About 1 1/2 months until Spring Ball starts. Let's start talking position groups. Starting with the most important OL. Feel free to correct any mistakes I make, OL is a little harder to keep track of then some of the other positions.

Lose
Skyler Phillips (G) - Stud, but missed a lot of playing time because of injuries.
Chase Collins (T) - Stud. I think he will be the hardest to replace

Return
Brian Fineanganofo (T) #66 Senior - HM All-League.
Dallen Collins (C) #58 Junior
Jacob Molenaar (G) #75 Junior

Dakota Wilson (G) #79 Junior - I think played a lot for Sklyer

I do not think we have anyone at Phillips or Collins level, but Fineanganofo is close. Overall, nice to have 4 players with a lot of experience. I think all 4 are good solid players.

Did I miss anyone else that played significant minutes last year?

Preston Holfeltz JC from Snow of course should be in the mix. Who else on the current roster do you think will work into the rotation or possible starter? Need a lot more to take that step then the 5 I have mentioned.

Of the incoming Freshmen I think the only one with an outside shot is John Perko from Gonzaga Prep. He has the size 6-4 290, comes from a very good program and is one of the few that will not be going on a mission. Hard to play OL though as a true Freshmen and I hope we have other guys ready that have been in the program.

I can't remember his name, but the kid from Shelly got some time last year. I think he would be a red shift soph this year. His number was 68. Do you see him getting much playing time this year?

You must be talking about #64 Garrett Smith from Shelley. He will be a Jr. next season. At 6'7 325 he has the size. He should be a player that can help, but needs to take that next step this spring. I have heard he has not played up to his potential so far in his career. We need at the least 8 players that can play significant minutes.

I do think #68 Chris Miedema did play some last year so he should be in the mix also. Will be a SR. next season.

Great information Blackfoot. How do you feel about our OL for next year? I think we are going to be strong in all other areas on offense so hoping OL can do their part. I am going to start another thread on receivers maybe that will get more discussion going.

Bengal-Believer, hard to judge OL from just watching the game because sometimes sacks are the QB's fault for missing his hot read, holding onto the ball too long, or failing to change the protection to pick up the pressure. Sometimes it is the RB's fault for not picking up his responsibility on pass pro or not seeing and running his hot pattern adjustment. Sometimes it is the WR's fault for running the wrong pattern or not running his hot pattern adjustment. And of course sometimes the OL just gets beat, misses their assignment, or does not see the pressure, etc... So to really judge a good OL you must watch film and know what their job is, in other words it is best to just let the coaches determine who our best lineman are.
