Open Letter to Grant Napear

Dear Mr. Napear,

In light of your recent comments on your radio program regarding the Sacramento State basketball program, I'd like to take a moment to share some of MY thoughts with you as a Hornet.

First of all, let me say that myself, like many others, can't stand the sound of your wretched voice, so thank god I only get exposed to the occasional transcript of your comments about Sac State from your Mickey Mouse radio program. Recently, you equated Hornet Hoops with a second grade basketball team, previously you've slammed the athletic facilities and the football team, conveniently neglecting to mention the overall improvement of Hornet athletics and facilities.

Since you live and work in the greater Sacramento area (at least until the Kings leave town and you're left jobless), you should support our local Division I university. Hell, maybe if you did, people would listen to you more! Do you have any idea how many graduates there are in your listening area? Please understand that we weren't all as lucky to have attended the Athletics powerhouse that is Bowling Green University, like you.

If you don't like this open letter, you don't like the truth! Oh Boy! ...This isn't Syosset, New York you clown.

Righton about jobless, when the Queens leave, I just hope he goes with them . Loser.
:+1:

He's what other Folsomites would consider... Trash.

The guy needs to get off the air, even the Kings players go to a Hornet game every now and then. Sac is a big city, and as a D1 school they have the potential to get a bigger following.

I heard Grant's show yesterday when one of the callers brought up the Hornets and the arena. Before the caller finished the phrase "Sac State", he automatically launched in to a tantrum. The caller then asked Grant to hear him out, so he cooled off a bit, but Grant quickly when back to his screed. It's one thing to not be a fan of Sac's programs, but to endlessly berate them is tired and childish. It made me long for the days when Mike Lamb was still around. He at least gave Sac the time of day.

i heard a rant from Napier also this week about Sac State ( i flip over to KHTK on my drive home when KNBR has commercials) Caller said with the Kings so bad, and talk of moving, he's been going to Sac State games. You would have thought he said he started going to pedophile meetings.....tore the poor guy up. what a dork. he rips Sac whenever he can. belittles the effort and interest. of course, when they NEVER promote, and only demean, its not terribly surprising there isn't more local interest.

I liked Mike Lamb. I enjoyed his commentary when he did Comcast games of the Causeway or other Davis games. He got it. He understood small college ball and seemed to appreciate the talent, coaching and rivalry. Napier? forgot it.

I miss Kozmor also. I like his commentary on Comcast, be it basketball or football. He seems to really enjoy Sac and Davis sports. Replaced by that sophmoric Don Geronimo? wow. At least Kozimor would mention local college sports in a positive manner.

KHTK will quickly become irrelevant once the Kings leave town. Though it might bode well for ucd getting their hoops games onto that station to join their football coverage. Course, I can totally see something completely insane where the Kings move to Anaheim and KHTK becomes the team's network affiliate

I could actually see the Kings move with KHTK remaining the flagship station.

given the current sad state of Aggie basketball, having the flagship being a Spanish language religous station seems fitting.

Good letter K. I never listened to local sports radio when I lived in Sac, but if this clown is suppose to be a local sports guy; it makes no sense about his blatant bias against the Hornets. Like others have pointed out, alienating Hornet sports doesn’t help with his audience as there are lots of Sac State alums this guy is insulting. WAFJ. :ohno:

Well, Grant is right about you guys being like a 2nd grade basketball team. Looking forward to win number two in the next decade long Causeway streak.

Keep it classy Sac.

I don't want Sac to have a bad program, it doesn't help UCD at all, especially now that we are going to be in the same conference for football. I would much rather have two good programs competing against each other than two cr@ppy teams.

Sac might have a 2nd grade basektball team, but we can't really talk. Even if the coach we just canned managed to beat the Hornets this year. ;)

Yeah I am not sure what is worse, the Hornets losing to a program that was in a complete downward spiral or the aggies losing to a Hornet team that only won 2 games all season. I guess 1 out of three ain’t bad for Stewart against Katz. :coffee:
