"The National Collegiate Athletic Association has charged Boise State with a major violation and a lack of institutional control after the university reported a host of secondary violations across five sports dating to 2005 and an alleged major violation by the former women’s tennis coach in 2010."

Ouch.

even though bsu is one of the big boys now, still seems kinda ironic that all these bcs schools get away with far worse. ncaa is such a corrupt organization!

I don't know what you're talking about. The NCAA is a fair and balanced organization which has made great strides in leveling the playing field across all of college athletics. Just ask Jim Tressel and the rest of his model program at Ohio State.

Here's another one.

"They also have the specter of NCAA sanctions looming after the football program committed a spate of secondary violations. The NCAA has alleged a lack of institutional control because of one major and many secondary violations across five sports.

The school self-imposed three scholarship losses and three fewer preseason practices on the football team, but the NCAA could add more penalties following a Committee on Infractions meeting in June."

Ah. well. Petersen knocked on our red field anyway! No one messes with the Inferno!

No shit. This is probably just the NCAAs way of keeping them from infringing on any more BCS games. Whatta joke. Cam Newton commits felony theft, academic fraud, and asks for $180k in a pay-for-play scheme with no recourse. Boise State gets their football program nailed because they gave free mealtickets to some women's tennis athletes.

Absurd.

I wouldn't say no recourse... at least not yet. The NCAA and the FBI are still investigating the Scam Newton/Auburn saga. With how deep the scandal's permeated the AU BOT's (allegedly), Auburn is going to get absolutely reamed, and Newton's Heisman is going bye-bye.

if they really cared about it though, he wouldn't have played in that NC game.
