OT: Eastern Eagles (MI) installing gray field turf for 2014

I don't get the critism ( both in the article and in the comments) regarding the color choice... Regardless of how "we" like it, the real test is does the team/school/fans that will be playing on it like it and are they successful? Heaven knows we get enough crap about our field and my response to it is usually "yep, it's red, get over it!"

Hope they have as much success on their field and can shove it in the critics' faces as Boise State and we did!

The idea that a football field must be green is one of the dumber I've heard. Those arguing against blue, red, grey, or rainbow colored fields do realize that the game probably isn't even being played on grass, right? I mean, if it's not grass, why does it have to be green? Is there somebody who believes that artificial grass and the color green make the ultimate playing surface? What if someday soon we find some other material or surface to play on? Would it still have to be green? Is it okay to have a field with orange checkerboard end zones (TN), or a yellow and purple tiger eye (LSU)? Should the Raiders have to fold because they play in a baseball stadium? Maybe make the Huskies and Cougars rebuild their stadiums because their fields run east-west. While we're at it, let's boycott all teams who play in domes, with lights, or with tracks around their fields. Seriously.

Wow, the grizzlies have succeeded in making EWU very defensive about colored turf.

Our red turf is vibrant and exciting. Gray is just so dull. Just because we have red turf doesn't mean we can't point out that obvious fact.

I am sure that their team will love it. I am sure they will affectionately rally around their gray turf. I'm sure that they will come up with a quirky field name like "Sunglass grass". I am sure they will win a national championship immediately after installing the turf ( ).

Doesn't change that gray is boring.
