Not the first time we've done it, however it's the first time since 1997 and the first time we've ever had an undefeated season in the Big Sky Conference. VA set the conference record for TD passes (46) and surpassed Erik Meyer for passing yards (4,059) and total offense (4,550). I can't find the box score anywhere, but I believe Cooper Kupp may have broken the record for consecutive games with a TD.

He did... broke a tie with 3 other players by scoring in 12 straight games rather than 11.

It was a gutty win, but a badly played ball game by Eastern. Looked like chicken with our heads cut off for the entire first half and several drives of the second. The D kept us in the game while the offense was garbage early, but totally collapsed near the end of the game when the offense finally got in a rhythm.

A win is a win, but that was much harder than it should have been....

He broke Meyer's total yardage record, and BLM's passing yardage record. Kupp now owns two FCS records .. Savage!

WHAT??? the defense kept us in it?????????
They had 603 yds of offense, and scored 42 points. Montana held them to 27 points, SUU held them to 7 points, my God even North Dakota stopped them at 14 points.
The only thing that seemed to slow them down was their kicker, they missed 3 field goals or it would have been a very different story.
The defense did not have much impact on this game, we were just LUCKY they missed an extra point.

We really need to get our team healthy for playoffs. Our 12th man Vic E. Wallace being out sick really hurt us this game. He had best recover quickly, or we won't make it very deep this year.

Claw, the defense did keep us in it during the first half :twocents:

it was ugly for the eagles most of the game. But I'll take an ugly win any day of the week. And the best part about this ugly win is we get two weeks to get players healed up and ready for our next opponent which we will play at home. I'll take it.

Not that it changes much, but the EWU postgame article wrote that Brandon was incorrectly listed in the NCAA record book and was not among the 11 game TD catch record holders. So Kupp only broke out of a three way tie. Again not much difference but it made me a touch sad.

Don't get me wrong I am so proud and happy the guys kept trying the reality is we got outplayed, and out-coached this game. It is not a bad thing to face reality so we can stay away from the same situation in the future.
Half time score 21-7

Very excited that we stand alone as the BSC Champs! However, on the drive home, couldn't help but feel that we escaped with a victory. I was amazed at how their front defensive four just manhandled us, completely shut down our running game, made us one dimensional AND manages to make things difficult for VA all day. Having said all that it was a great victory for the team for more reason than just getting us the number three seed. They need to know that they can win big games even when everything isn't clicking just right. VA's passes were not quite as sharp or on the mark, a couple of dropped passes, some tough bounces of the ball (that fumble that was punched from Coop could have just as easily dribbled our of bounds for instance) a fired up Viking team that was thirsty to upset the number three team in the country. And yet, they didn't panic and cooly (dang it was cold) drove down the field for a score, the defense did just enough, the Vikings kicker did his part and the Eagles chalk up the win. I hope they don't come out as flat again or the run into the playoffs will not be deep BUT I do think they have learned a lot about themselves and their teammates, lessons that should help them in the coming weeks!

God Bless and Go Eagles! :thumb:

We also turned it over 4 times.

The surprise to me was how well they were able to exploit our pass defense in the second half.
