PSU and EWU visit the Hornets Nest this weekend. BSFans reported that PSU lost Phil Nelson (F) to injury. He was averaging 12.8 ppg. The Hornets will still need to find a way to slow down its leading scorer Dominic Waters (G) who is averaging 18.4 ppg. I think this game is winnable as PSU hasn’t been playing well on the road this year (2-10). If the Hornets shoot lights out like they did at ISU, they could pull this one out. Otherwise it will take a tremendous defensive performance coupled with consistent shot making.

The second game is against a terrible EWU squad who is coming into this weekend’s games with a seven game losing streak. They beat the Hornets earlier in the year thanks to some big runs to start each half. I see this game as a must win for Katz and the Hornets. Katz will need to find a way to take Glen Dean (G, 11.9 ppg) out of the game as he and Mark Dunn (F, 11.2 ppg) were the only offense for them in the first game. If the Hornets can keep Dean and Dunn under control and take care of the ball along with a decent performance from the floor, they should win this one.

If the Hornets can pull out the broom this weekend and get the sweep, the Hornets would be in contention for the final BSC Tournament seed. I would like to see them build off of their great shooting performance @ ISU and continue to shoot lights out.

Go Hornets!

I agree about containing Waters in order to win the PSU game. They lost a big presence in the post with Nelson and PSU will have to fight just to make the BSC Tourney without him.

What I worry about in the Eastern game is Benny Valentine. I know he has stunk it up this year, but last year he torched us, especially at the Nest.

It's one game at a time and its starts against the Viks on Friday night. Can't wait!

Go Hornets!!!
