Barr, Moses, Presley Invited to Payton Ceremony

By Craig Haley, FCS Executive Director

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Three outstanding quarterbacks who hope to cap their seasons in the NCAA Division I Championship Game next month already know they will make the trip to Frisco, Texas, for the announcement of the Walter Payton Award.

Matt Barr of Western Illinois, Jeremy Moses of Stephen F. Austin and DeAndre Presley of Appalachian State have been invited to the 24th Annual Football Championship Subdivision Awards Presentation on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 6. The Sports Network presents and Fathead.com sponsors the Walter Payton Award that is bestowed on the outstanding player in the FCS.

Thought TJ may have had a shot, but he was injured most of the 1st half and didn't play in the 2nd half against MSU, didn't play against Weber, and was really limited against NAU. If he was at full strength in those 3 games, I'm sure he is in the top 3 as his numbers would be a lot better.

Next year I'm sure he will be the front runner.....

BTW...I would take TJ over any of the 3 listed for the Payton award this year...

It is kinda crap, as I really thought TJ was a strong contender for the Payton this year. But you're right, the injury did limit him some, and he should also be one of the front runners next year.

On another note, JC should have a really good shot at the Buchanan this year. He's had a great season, and finished second in the voting last year. I don't think they'll forget how close he came last year.
