Payton finalists

The Sports Network announced the Payton finalists today and my guess is that Bo will be the winner. He appears to have the best stats by far.

So has the voting actually been done and the announcment isn't until Jan 6? Or did they just cut the list to 3 finalists with voting among these three later on? If it's the latter, the kid from Lehigh could theoretically sway a lot of votes based on his playoff performance while the others are done for the year.

The voting took place right after the season ended, and the winner is announced Jan 6. BLM will win it because of who's voting... SIDs and Media... they're not going to forget his National Championship MOP performance when considering him. And he has better numbers than Lum.

It is my understanding that the voting is completed after the regular season. The reason they announce 3 finalists is so travel arrangements can be made and the winner, family, friends, etc. can get there. In past years the AD office has known the winner before the announcement is official.
Bo WINS!!!

Who knows how this is going to pan out. From a non-homer perspective, I think he is the clear-cut favorite with the stats he put up this season, and the fact that he won a NC last year. People may try and argue that what you did the previous season shouldn't bear on the voting, but it clearly does. Just look at JC Sherritt. My guess is we will be talking about another Payton Award Winner at Eastern next month.

Then again, I thought Nichols had a good chance to win it, too, and he got screwed over.

IMHO his performance in the last 20-23 minutes of the championship game will give him a little carry over credit to this year. That performance HAD to have had a positive impression on anyone who say the game. That and all of his stats with the exception of completion % are in Bo's favor.

Soooo........what does everyone think? Does he win it?

Anyone know what time this is going to be announced? I remember last season there was a stream to it, but I can't seem to find one for it this year.

I think he wins it. BLM had a fantastic finish to the season, votes were in before the playoffs so it really made no difference how you performed in the playoffs this year, and he was the national championship game MVP last year (which will help voters that are undecided...imo)

I think his numbers were outstanding and the fact that he finished so well to end the season puts him over the top.

I haven't seen a link at all but the schedule is a little different this year since the game is on sat morning instead of friday night.
