Penn State Bans song

Penn State banned the song "Sweet Caroline" yet claim it has nothing to do with lyrics that state "reaching out, touching me touching you" http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8308423/penn-state-nittany-lions-cut-sweet-caroline-game-days" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Just call it how it is, you banned the song for obvious reasons and I dont blame you.

Being a wildcat fan first and a nittany lion fan second (since Weber is my Alma mater but I'm currently living in PA and train at Penn State), I can say that this situation is slightly more complicated than the song being removed just because of the lyrics. The man in charge of the pre-game and in-game entertainment recently retired and the powers at be thought it would be a good opportunity to review what they wanted to keep, and what they wanted to get rid of for the entertainment. That being said, I do think that the lyrics had an affect on their decision. I have to say, I'm a little sad to see it go. There's nothing like singing "Sweet Caroline" with 107,000 people.

Going to the Penn State football games has really made me realize how important traditions like "Sweet Caroline" are to a fan base. I made me really wish that Weber would be able to find some traditions that could really unite the fans and then stick with those traditions every game so that they could be passed down to the next generation of fans.

I have been wishing this same thing for over 30 years.Maybe WSU's tradition is that they have NO traditions.

One tradition as I was growing up was that EVERYONE stood for every kickoff. Now you have to kick most people butts or get in their grills to get them to stand.
