I see 2 potential trap games:

This weekend and the triple option.

Idaho in Idaho. They are horrible on the road and tough at home.

You're quite right about Cow Poly, HH, but I'm not too worried about Idalol; I AM worried about Causeway, though. Rivalry games are always potential hazards, even when there's a clear disparity in the teams....

At this point, the Sac State coaches, players and fans can't overlook anyone. Or believe any game should be an automatic win.

I firmly believe the new coaching staff understands this and will get it across to the players. However you never know with kids, so....

But with us fans, we've been through so many lean years and a few that started out very promising only to crash and burn. So we KNOW better!

This game against Cal Poly is no gimme. Neither is the Idaho game. Road games never are. With this program, neither are home games.

I'm hoping for a 3-2 finish at the very least. While we'd all love to see them win out or go 4-1 at the very least, history suggests that either is unlikely to happen.

The 2 home games are tough. Weber and UCD. While we'd love for them to win both, I think a split is acceptable. Than means they have to win 2 of 3 on the road against CP, NAU and Idaho. That's no given.

I don't see the Cal Poly D being able to stop our offense.

The interesting battle will be how we attack/slow-down their triple-option. I'm sure the coaches will have a great scheme, but hard to prepare for that with a scout team O.

Can't wait!

Yeah, SLO always screws you by doing 20 running plays and then dropping back all of a sudden and chunking an 80yd. pass for a score. Gotta keep a FS back there.

Hope you're right. Hopefully they can continue to play mistake free. To me, that's been a factor that's been overlooked. I know they've had some turnovers, but I'm more referring to penalties. They've kept those down to a minimum.

Yep. That's definitely a concern. I haven't seen CP play this season, but I've heard they can sling it a bit when they need to.

One thing that's impressed me about Andy Thompson's defense is that, even when they've looked vulnerable for a series or two, they seem to be able to lock things down as the game goes along.

I was super worried after Montana's 1st possession and score, but they pretty much dominated the Griz offense from that point on.
