Phenicie contract details

The Journal is reporting today that Rob Phenicie will make $85,000 as ISU head coach this year. He is also guaranteed a second year as at least offensive coordinator at the same salary, but Jeff Tingey told the Journal he hopes to negotiate an extended head coaching contract with Phenicie. ISU will have to pay the remainder of Mike Kramer's $165,000 salary this year as well.

The Journal also reported offensive coordinator Matt Troxel will make $70,000 this year.

It's very low, no argument here. But isn't that just the base salary? Doesn't the head coach still get different incentives and bonuses? Doesn't the football coach get a media bonus like other coaches, say basketball? He also gets paid separately for things like football camps, doesn't he? I'm not defending the low salary, because it is, but he should still be entitled to ways to boost it some, right?

Yes typically the head coach gets a media stipend and Kramer had a clause in his contract giving him 3 percent of the income from money games. I don't know if Phenicie's contract includes those bonuses.
