Play calling

Thr radio accouncer for JSU pointed out that the Eagles run on first and pass on third down every drive. BB tended to do this as well, not to the point the opposition radio announcers pointing it out but pretty regularily.
What is the logic in being so predictable?

By the end of the first quarter my wife, an ex high school cheerleader, had picked up on it to. She was calling run/pass with remarkable accuracy for most of the rest of the game. Of course it must be pointed out that for almost all of the 2nd and 3rd quarters it didn’t matter. Why change if it’s working?

With that said, play calling did not have a real bearing on the final outcome. JSU just pulled out a home win against a quality opponent who traveled across country for the game.

Y’all have a great team that is well coached.

Very predictable play calling. The up the middle runs were not getting us much and he kept going back to it . While we did spring a couple, they were loading the box and EB was no threat of running. Also, did anyone see the missed reads on the RPO late in the game. In critical situations. EB was hurting it appeared.

Not that JSU was enjoying a run away game, but it was obvious in the later quarters that they were systematically gaining on us as time became the factor. Challenging decision for the coaches, but at what point in the slippage do you shift from your game plan personnel. Defense bending, offense unable to make up the difference, do we lack an effective back-up QB who also needs additional game experience? JSU was not a game we had to win; would of been nice to win. But playing EB3 if he's less than say 75% is not wise, and he may not be healed for the conference games. (Always will appreciate the way CK was back in the game after an injury - great conditioning I guess?) Does anyone here have any reports of Talkington's progress in practices? Should Eastern consider temporarily going to a two man backfield set until EB3 is 100% again?
