Player Injury Update

Otis and Bull still a week out. Not sure if they can be back for the home game next Thursday.

Hajek injured his patella in the knee/knee cap dislocation. He will miss some games.

Hope at the least they can at least get Bullinger or Otis back for next Saturday against the Griz...

I don't know the situation but how good/bad is this Van Pelt kid? Could he possibly come in and help our dwindling big man situation? All he would have to do is guard Montana's slowest Big and get some rebounds for a few minutes? I know I'm probably talking crazy but I'm trying to think how we would get by if we had 2 bigs foul out. :yikes:

Or we could call up Matt Washington and see if he wants to play that last season for us? Please?

paper this morning says one more week for Bullinger. Two for Otis. At least they should both be back for the 2nd half of the conference schedule, giving Rahe enough time to get a new rotation going by conference tournament time.

So who in the crap will be Tres & Mahoney's backups until Bull, Mook, Hajek make it back? Rahe might have 5 guys in the court under 6'6". I don't normally like to call out individual players but it is time for Fulton to STEP UP.

Larry,

I too have wondered what has been going on with the Big Sky Freshman of the year. He has been a bit off this year. I agree- time for him to live up to his potential. They guy can be a star if he puts in the time and effort to be great and if he plays within Rahe's system.

Today at the luncheon, Coach told everyone that he thinks he is coaching a team of Smurfs right now. He keeps wondering how he is going to guard opposing teams bigs. He did say there is a possibility that Mook or Bull can be back by the Montana game. He said Bull is day to day, and that it depends a lot upon Mook's ability on the floor this week. He isn't expected to practice till tomorrow. He didn't know about Hajek at the time, but expects James to be out a couple of weeks. 8 healthy players...hmmm...Van Pelt?

I don't see what we would lose in playing Van Pelt. He isn't a coveted recruit and who knows, maybe he might surprise us and be half decent. If you put a 6'10" kid in the middle of a zone he can't mess us too bad can he? And he'd only need to play 5-10 minutes tops. I remember when I was a redshirt we had 3 offensive guards go down and Coach Graybeal put in a freshman lineman who didn't do anything great but did just enough for us to be able to throw the ball. Give the kid the shot of his dreams.

I have seen him play a few times now. He wouldn't hurt us ofensively, but he might be a little on the light side defensively. Because he is so thin, he gets pushed around quite a bit. However, he is a fairly tough kid. He is about 30 or 40 lbs of muscle from being a contributing D1 player. I hope he can add the strength over the next few years, because, skill wise, he is already there.

Van Pelt will be a good addition after his mission. We don't want to waste any of his time now; especially so late in the year. Let's all hope that the injured players can get healthy quickly and be back soon.

I talked to K-Bull today and he said he was going to give it a go today to see how his elbow handles practice. Hope it is good news and he is back on Thursday.

Man, that is music to my ears!
Bulls scoring is good, but his rebounding and defense is terrific. I'd be thrilled even if his scoring is off a bit. :thumb:

We need Bullinger mostly for rebounding and defense. Any scoring will be a bonus. Keep in mind he'll be replacing a guard - Richardson.

they cant announce anything and the plan is for bull to be back for the nau game because tinkle is a fan board troll.

We just do not want to risk more injury by having him come back too soon. Also, he needs to be strong enough to be effective.

It is a different preparation for our oponents with him than without him. I am sure that both Montana teams will try to prepare for either case. I kind of like it that they don't know what to expect, right up to game time. :thumb:
