Here is the full text of my nominees post for this week. Thanks for reading and please let me know what you think!!

The Eagles swept another week of Big Sky play improving to 6-1 and keeping pace with Sacramento State and Montana for the Conference lead. Each week I highlight the individual accomplishments of one particular Eagle whose contributions stood out among his team mates.

In the ideal scenario, the fans and readers would tell me which Eagle has earned the nod for #EagleEyePOW so please click the link to see this week's nominees and let me know your choice in the comments, via twitter using #EagleEyePOW, on the Eagle Eye Hoops Facebook page or by email to [email protected].

I've said it before, but it almost can't be said enough, I can't compile a list of nominees without including Tyler Harvey and this week is no different. The superstar Junior Guard threw in 61 points in two games and added 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. He did it by draining 7 of 15 three's and getting to the free throw line often and making it count. He was 22 of 25 from the charity stripe in this two game stretch.

A fully healthy Drew Brandon twice threatened a triple-double this week and earned back to back double-doubles (his 3rd and 4th of the season). The Senior Point Guard's two game stat line: 25 points, 19 rebounds, 17 assists, 4 steals, 1 block and 7 turnovers. Brandon's play is even more significant than his amazing stat lines, he enables the rest of the team to to excel and definitely did so this week. Like Harvey, he got himself to the charity stripe often, hitting 10 of 11 free throws and helping this team win.

The third member of the Eagle back court also deserves to be on this list. Parker Kelly, like Brandon, is finally playing healthy and it shows as he drained clutch shots all week and made his presence felt on defense. Kelly finished with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. He drained 7 of 13 three point attempts with each one seemingly ending a run by the opposing team. Kelly is a team player whose presence spreads the floor on offense and removes a teams best guard on defense. Against Northern Colorado, the Eagles shut down the Bears leading scorers completely allowing just 5 points on 2 of 14 shooting and forced them into 6 turnovers.

This week wasn't just about the guards, Ognjen "OG" Miljkovic was a dominant force for the Eagles this week. 29 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block and 1 assist while playing through injury and without superstar front court mate Venky Jois, OG provided critical interior defense and scored from inside the paint and outside hitting 5 of 8 three's and 5 of 9 two's. OG also got himself to the charity stripe and made it count going 3-5, all while wearing enough tape on his shoulder to send the tape company's kids to college.

The final nominee for this week comes from the Eagle bench. Bogdan Bliznyuk continued his red-hot streak since entering conference play and is making a case for Big Sky Freshman of the Year. Bogdan hasn't started a game in conference play, but he is averaging 26.5 minutes per game including 29 minutes per game this week. He's not just playing a lot, he's making the minutes count. This week Bogdan racked up 35 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. He went 10 of 11 from the free throw line and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. When the team is in desperate need of a post player to help replace the production and minutes of Venky Jois, Bogdan has stepped up in a big time way.

Some of you may have noticed from my signature that I write a blog covering the Eagles Hoops team. One of the things I do is select a player of the week each week, but it would be better and more fun for all if the other fans had input.

In light of that I'm trying to write a nominees post each week and asking for feedback.

Here is this week's post:

If you want check it out and you can comment there or in this thread with your thoughts etc.

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

Cheers,
Brian

You can actually put this in a poll which will display the vote totals for each category. Just FYI.

Thanks. I have created a Poll in the original post now. Hope everyone wants to vote, I put it for two days so I can post this weeks POW Friday evening.

Cheers,

Has to be Bogdan for me. He's really stepped up for Jois while he's been out. I'm not worried now if Jois is out till he is completely healed.

SirGarethThe3rd,
I agree with you on your pick, Bradon (B. D. B) doesn't play like a Freshman, he seems so sure of himself on the court. I have been very much impressed with him ever since I first time I saw him on the court. I will vote for him also for (Player Of The Week). At noon - 1:30pm on Saturday, we have a lunch with our President, she is feeding us in the Dance Studio, Coach Hayford will be there. Go Eagles!!!!!and see you on Saturday at 2p.m. Vic Wallace

Since the forum poll is pretty open and apparent, I feel I can just give my thoughts on this as well, otherwise it feels like I'm just previewing or something. So thanks everyone for contributing, this week's POW post will be a lot more fun to write (and hopefully read) than previous editions.

My vote this week would go to Drew Brandon. I just continue to be so impressed by his ability to distribute and play unselfish ball. A lot of young men would be trying to score in bunches to get some notice along with Tyler Harvey, but Brandon just keeps doing his job and threatening that elusive triple-double nightly. He is the Big Sky's 5th leading rebounder per game. the next guards on the list are Sac State's Nick Hornsby and Cody Demps at 16T and 18 respectively. Oh and he's sitting at 4th in assists and steals.

Thanks to everyone for the votes, comments and everything. Tyler Harvey won the vote on all platforms.

#EWU fans have spoken and the wk 11 #EagleEyePOW is Tyler Harvey http://bit.ly/1uKiku0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; #GoEags #BigSkyMBB @YoungTRaaw Thanks to everyone who voted!

Bumped and updated for the new week! I don't want to post a new post every week and clutter the forum, but I thought it was great to get your feedback. Hopefully everyone finds it worthwhile!

Cheers,
Brian

Brandon for me this week against ID. So close to the first ever MBB triple double. Only 1 TO? Court General yesterday. BDB (what Vic calls Bogdan) was fun to watch and he's getting better every week, but for me it has to be Drew.

Has to be Drew Brandon for me :thumb: What an incredible player. Now he is fully fit, he is killing it and I have my fingers crossed that in one of these games he actually makes that elusive triple-double that he has been so close to on multiple ocassions. What a team player he truly is
Go eags :D

Must go with Brew Brandon, he is getting better with each game. Some times I wonder with the way he brings the ball up court, think he is going to get the whistle for not getting the ball across the line within 10 seconds, or whatever. Vic Wallace

Ya, it's gotta be Drew. He is the court general and just makes plays when plays need to be made. Whether it's a timely rebound, and assist, or a clutch drive to the hoop. He really gets no glory even though he is Mr. Everything on this team. Court general describes him perfectly and even though "The Blizzard" was huge for us against Idaho-- it's gotta be Drew. Love that guy!

From the Rafters....
go eags!

thanks again for voting everyone! I'm writing up the post for Drew now so be sure to check it out.

I'll update the poll etc after this week's games!

GoEags!

I updated the poll for week 14, I ran out of time with my school work last week, but here is the link to review the write up. you can vote there as well if you so desire!
