Players No Longer With the Team

I have heard that Vercher in no longer with the team. Can someone confirm. And if so, has anyone heard of any other player not returning.

Yes I heard Vercher and McDade are both gone. But have heard of 2 other QB that are committed. A kid from Baylor and Jimison from Vista Del Lago

I used to get pissed about this stuff, but having just watched the (statistically) best QB in school history progress from being a walk-on, I tend to shrug. Best of luck to them...I'm guessing Kniffin is going to have the best shot at being the starter.

I agree with you PH...I would've liked to see more continuity at the QB positions, but I think Paul Peterson can turn an average signal caller into a All Big Sky selection...

The part about this thread that intrigues me the most if the comment from OH about a Baylor transfer. There are only two QBs on their roster that will have eligibility beyond this year and both are studs. Either one of these guys could walk in here and push Kniffin (perhaps that's why McDade and Vercher left...), both are dual threat QBs...

Seth Russell (would be a JR in 2015) - Dual Threat QB

Chris Johnson (would be a JR in 2015) - Dual Threat QB (I bet he's the transfer)

Kadeezy, hilarious. I did the same exact thing with the Baylor roster.

Perhaps it was someone who redshirted this season and isn't on the roster?

I'm not sure who it is that is transferring from Baylor but if I had to guess I think it is Devon Dunn from Santa Clarita. The other 3 Qb on the roster are from Texas or from the South. He was a walk on for Baylor.

Not on the roster, but makes way more sense...

From what I was told it's a kid that didn't play football for Baylor this year and only ran track. The kid was offered out of HS by Sac St but decided to take a track scholly to Baylor...

So my best guess is it would be

Just speculation since I didn't get a name.

Best of luck to Vercher and McDade.

That's too bad, I figured it was going to be an open competition between those 2 and Kniffin this spring and fall. All 3 had a few years of learning the system under their belts so the competition for starter would have been entertaining. FWIW Kniffin looked the best between those 3 last fall camp, but Vercher didn't look healthy (had a noticeable limp). I guess we get to settle for a competition between Kniffin, Merker (assuming he sticks around) and any QBs brought in between now and spring/fall.

Alexis Robinson as the QB transfer makes sense. He finished 2nd in the state in the 2012 CIF State Championships running the 400 in 46.55 which is significant. Baylor has a long history of producing great 400 meter runners under Coach Clyde Hart, including Olympic gold medalists Michael Johnson and Jeremy Wariner. Baylor is known as “Quarter Mile U”, not surprising that a aspiring 400 meter runner would want to go there. For whatever reason he his no longer listed on Baylor’s track roster.
He intended to run track and play football at Baylor, I hope he gets the chance to contribute to both sports here.

Sorry that Vercher and McDade have left the program. Vercher looked like he had a lot of athletic ability and McDade had a MBT type rocket arm, it would have been interesting to see them develop and compete to start. Kniffin looked poised in his brief appearances this year, with Merker and Jimision and potentially Robinson in the mix we should be OK at QB.

Another possibility. Devon Dunn. He walked-on at Baylor, but returned home before the start of the season to play at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.
