Players of the week?

I'm trying to figure out who the Big Sky plans to give player of the week honors to. It was a weird week where Weber has guys that could or should win all three awards.

If Trevor Pletcher doesn't get the defensive nod, it would be a friggin crime against humanity. How can you argue against four sacks and a blocked punt? I can totally see the Big Sky giving it to Montana's Houston Roots, who had a couple of interceptions in their win, though. If not, they will still find a way to squeeze him in by doing co-players of the week, although Pletcher deserves the award by himself.

Montana's Jordan Canada, PSU's Cory McCaffrey, Eastern's Bo Levi Mitchell and Greg Herd and MSU's Cody Kirk all had good games, but none were as impressive as Hoke's performance, even though he only attempted 12 passes. Once again, I bet the Big Sky weasles a Montana guy in somewhere.

Shaun McClain and Montana's Brody McKnight both had great kicking days, and probably both deserve special teams honors. Wouldn't be upset if they are co-winners. That one might actually be legit. :blah:

The Big Sky Conference has selected its football Players of the Week for games played on Saturday, Oct. 15. Eastern Washington’s Bo Levi Mitchell is the offensive Player of the Week. Weber State linebacker Trevor Pletcher and Montana State defensive end Brad Daly are the co-defensive Players of the Week. Montana kicker/punter Brody McKnight is the special teams Player of the Week.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior from Katy, Texas, completed 28-of-39 passes for 400 yards with three touchdown passes in Eastern Washington’s 48-27 victory over Northern Colorado. Mitchell also ran for a touchdown. Mitchell threw TD passes of 19, 12 and 42 yards. The 12-yarder to Greg Herd and the 42-yarder to Nicholas Edwards helped the Eagles pull away late in the third quarter after Northern Colorado had cut the lead to 27-20. Mitchell finished with an efficiency rating of 183.3. This is Mitchell’s second straight Player of the Week honor.

Pletcher, a 6-2, 245-pound junior from Edmond, Okla., tied the Weber State school record with four sacks in the Wildcats’ 39-12 victory over Idaho State. Pletcher tallied a total of five tackles and also blocked a punt in the second quarter. The four sacks were the most by a Wildcat since 1998. His four sacks resulted in a loss of 17 yards. He also had two quarterback hurries. This is Pletcher’s first Player of the Week honor.

Daly, a 6-1, 232-pound sophomore from Helena, Mont., tallied a career-high three sacks and registered six total tackles in Montana State’s 41-24 victory over Northern Arizona. Daly’s first sack came on a third-and-11 in the first quarter with the score tied at 7-7, setting up a Montana State touchdown drive. Daly led a Bobcat defense which held the league’s top offense to 298 total yards, 150 below its season average. Daly leads the Big Sky with six sacks. This is Daly’s first Player of the Week Honor.

McKnight, a 6-foot, 204-pound senior from Vancouver, B.C., made three field goals, including two in the fourth quarter to lift Montana to a 30-24 win over Portland State. McKnight connected on 27-yard field goal late in the first half to cut the Vikings’ lead to 21-10. He made a 24-yarder with 10:06 remaining in the game to put UM up 27-24. He added a 42-yarder with 1:49 to play. McKnight also averaged 37.2 yards per punt. McKnight has been named Player of the Week two consecutive weeks, and five times in his career

No disrespect to MSU's Daly, But I think Pletcher should have won that POTW by himself

Good for T. Pletch. He's a good player and an even better guy.

Good kid, good family and good attitude.

Was it just me or was that D line just a little more hungry and a little more nasty?
