Maybe because they had 6 or 7 QB's on the roster at the time of the Spring Game..and who knows if he really left or was just mistakenly left off of the latest roster update. The WSU sports website is about as reliable as asking a 4 yr old for directions to the store.Cats54 said:

Cats, we probably won't have a very thorough idea until July or August. Pretty much till the start of Fall Camp. Throughout the summer athletics occasionally updates the roster. However, I think this current roster is fairly accurate. It has on it those players who stayed with the team after spring ball, those guys who are not going on missions who are freshmen and those other players who are new to the team (DI or JUCO transfers). We might see some others added throughout the summer. I know of at least two or three that earned spots because of spring ball who haven't been added to the most up-to-date roster. But it has happened in the past that athletics deleted a players name when that player wasn't off the team.

I'm fairly interested in seeing if any of the mission kids signed by Sears will earn roster spots. There were a couple of good recruits who left on missions two years ago. There are a number of kids still on the team from that class. It was a fairly talented class.

It is extremely competitive to hold down a roster spot on a D1 football team. At the FCS level there are 62 scholarships to be had. That is less than 3 deep at every position. Add into that 20+ new recruits per year and an additional 20+ walk-ons trying to make the team every year. It is easy to see that there is going to be huge turnover every year. It's a fact of life on a D1 football team. A recruit may get one or two years to show development toward their potential, but if they are not cutting it, they will be cut. Same goes for walk-ons, but it is a much shorter window of opportunity.
I believe that holding a roster spot is just as competitive in football as it is in basketball.
