Playing at USD on 9/10/11

Topic likely misleading to most Sac State fans, but rumor on our message board is that the Hornets are to play at University of South Dakota on 9/10/11. Any similar rumors on your end. Noted in your 2011 schedule thread that some were hoping to play the other USD on 9/10/11.

I doubt it. We open at Oregon State on the third and go into BSC play at Weber State on the 17th. I can't see choosing to play three straight on the road to open the season. Sac traditionally schedules a home game after the FBS game and before the BSC starts.

As it should be. We have sane schedulemakers, at least in THAT regard. That's way too early to schedule a bye, so the next best thing following a Pac-12 is a home game vs. a patsy.

A road game in Vermillion, SD is awful. If this is true, I can’t believe this is the only opponent they were able to scrounge up. How much does it cost to have a Pioneer Conference team to come to Hornet Stadium? At least USDak is a counter towards the playoffs if the Hornets win.

Other possible dates, again per the rumor mill, are 11/5 & 11/12. The Yotes are looking for another home FCS game for 2011 as only 3 on the schedule as is. (2011 last year of our transition to FCS & also last year as independent as we join the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2012)

If the Hornets do swarm into Vermillion, hopefully some of you can make the trip - tailgating has really taken off the last couple of years & is a pretty good game day experience.

Do you know if this was a home and home agreement? My guess is USDak will be heading to Hornet Stadium in the 2012 season if the Yotes were in fact scheduled. :?:

sdhornet - only have heard rumors about the 2011 game, but I assume if true, it will be a home & home arrangement with the Yotes heading west in 2012. If I hear any more info I will post on this thread.

It is a no go on the Sac State at Univ of South Dakota game. The Yotes replaced with a home game against Eastern Washington. Getting defending national champs at home is nice - time to roll out the red carpet.
