Anyone know if Root will be broadcasting them?

Root only has secondary rights, and they have to be purchased from ESPN. ESPN still holds primary distribution over whichever games they choose. I assume ESPN would sell rights for any game at a price that would exceed the revenue they'd get from ESPN3.

PDX, I assume your in Portland. If correct, we have 9 of us headed to Sat. game. Besides alumni attivity, is there any tailgating worth checking out? What's your guess on attendance? Send email if you have other ideas which are outside the scope of this area.
Thanks

Even though I live in Portland, I don't go to many Portland State games. In fact, I've only been to one that didn't involve Eastern. I sure don't know of much tailgate activity. There used to be a pre-game function at the Kingston Bar on Burnside. That might have shifted into the new complex next to the stadium. A lot of stuff has moved around on that side of the freeway since the stadium was renovated and the soccer team came to town.

Attendance will probably be bad... Portland State is shitty and their fans aren't exactly enthusiastic even when they're decent. Plus, the weather will likely be typical Portland in November--- rainy and cool. I'd bet about 3,000 PSU will be there, so it'll depend on how many people Eastern brings. Eastern usually gets a good turnout in Portland; as I mentioned in another thread, more than half of the crowd when we last played PSU were Eastern fans. I'll guess the total will be about 5,000 and it'll look even worse because it's a good-sized stadium. The announced crowd will likely be close to 7,000, but PSU tends to badly overstate their figures (unlike eastern who seems to always err towards the "under")

I actually think Portland State is tough at home because of the lack of fan support. Playing in an empty stadium almost gives it a surreal feeling that makes it hard to get into game-mode. It was even worse before they converted it to a soccer stadium because there used to be a big void of empty space behind the visitors bench. It doesn't feel like a real game.

Once we win on Saturday we are going to have some home games, hopefully 3 of them...just come on out to Cheney and don't worry about the broadcast...

^This

Playing there was always very strange, and I agree that it had to be worse before the renovation. It was deadly silent and turning behind you to see nothing but outfield was very odd. Even N Colorado had more of a presence on top of the visiting bench. Yet again, I'm nervous for this game. Historically, we have lost several games to an inferior PSU squad.

I live in portland also. there is no tailgating as long as the games are downtown. I actually liked the games when they were played at Hillsboro Stadium.

Dopa is spot on, we will have as many fans as portland state does, last time i swear we were like 60% of the people there, which is pretty impressive consider eastern never travels well. i think it's location to Seattle coupled with people coming down to do some tax free shopping helps.

Now you have done it. You had to go and talk about shopping! I wondered why our four wifes were all fired up about going on an away game. TAX FREE SHOPPING. They even want to go a day early. I guess we can bring Akea meatballs to the game.

Edub, and PDX please say hi so I can put a face with the names. I will be one of the guys in a old farts group that are wearing hair hats. Mine has flames and INFERNO printed on it. Not sure were we are sitting will post later.

I had thought about making the drive down to Portland for the game, however wouldn't be able to afford this one as I'm heading right back down through there to Cannon Beach on Wed....but have to work Mon and Tue
