Yeah I voted for Montana State because I think they have a good team coming back and probably the BSC Offensive Player of the Year. However, I don't think they'll beat us on our field. Like a said in other posts, I'm predicting a 8 win season for the Cats of the Wild variety, with a loss on the Maxipad (sponsorship pending) field at E. Wash and at token bad game somewhere else along the way.

I'm with you, Champ. We have had good luck in Cheney over the years. I expect us to win on the Bloody Rag this year. On the other hand, Montana State has had our number in Ogden. That game will be huge.

All-time, EWU and Weber are 5-5 in Cheney. Without Higgins, it will be 6-5 EWU after this year. :thumb:

No disrespect here Screamin, but Higgins wasn't particularly good against Eastern. In all honesty, two of the loses at home should have been Wins if it wasn't for the 8 redzone TO's.

Emmm.....EWU dominated Weber for 3 quarters this year. Not sure what game you were watching. It was a route.

Yes, Tals numbers are a bit off. However, to say that Eastern dominated Weber isn't accurate. A sound win, yes? Rout, no! Especially since the score was 35-24 and Higs was intercepted twice within the 10 yard zone and the other in the midst of a drive. What I remember is Eastern getting two picks in their endzone keeping Weber out of striking distance. Without those picks, the game is a bit different. That isn't the definition of a rout. That would be a 31-13 butt kickin.

Just in case you need a quick reminder: http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=302752692" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sorry dude but I don't have much stock in E.Wash this coming season, they lost a little too much. A nice 3rd place finish after a national championship won't upset you too much will it?

A team with a 21-17 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter usually doesn't "route" a team. A route usually has better stats for the winnning team in the box score. Now had Taiwan played then yes, it would have been a route 66! Weber should have won that game but it still wouldn't have been a quality win since Jones didn't play a single down.

I think the edge has to go to EWU. They are the returning national champs and return most of their team from last year. They lose most of their DB's but return both starting safeties, lose Sherrit, but return Washburn and Johnson who are both extremely fast and have Renard Williams manning the DT position where he dominated last year.

The Big Sky is good enough that the Champion will probably have at least one conference loss somewhere along the way. Sac State and UNC will probably wreck a few plans for teams as they improve. The key for any team winning the conference will be the ability to give great effort every week and not have a letdown game.

There isn't a game in this conference that should be taken for granted.

Not with Kramer at the helm. But you may have a point though, I hear that team in Ogden lost a lot from a 6-5 team. 8-)

Yes but the O-Line and D-Line are back, Hoke will be as good or better than Higgins, and Josh Booker is secretly the love-child of Taiwan Jones. My predicted order of finish for the Big Sky is
Montana State 7-1 loses @Weber or @E Wash
Weber State 6-2 loses @EWash and probably @Montana or Montana State @home
E. Wash 6-2 loses @Montana and probably another one in WSU MSU @ home
Montana 6-2
Sac 4-4
Northern Arizona 3-5
Northern Colorado 2-6
Portland State 2-6
ISU 0-8 :ohno:

I'm sorry but losing BLM, TJ and Sherrit is going to hurt your team more than you think. We'll probably lose up at your place this year, but I don't think you're Big Sky champs this year. McGhee is the scariest and most talented QB I have seen in the BSC in a LONG time. And don't forget the MSU defense usually is no slouch either. I almost picked them to go undefeated this next season in the Big Sky. Show me where I'm wrong, give me your 2011 Final BSC standings.

Well first off, we didn't lose BLM. This will be his last year, and after how he performed in the second half of the season, he shouldn't be throwing as many picks this. He didn't have any in Spring ball. Yes, TJ was a playmaker and a big part of our team, but when he was playing, we relied on him more than we needed to. When he didn't play, we stepped it up (i.e. the WSU game last year... oh, and beating National Champs Villanova and the #1 defense Delaware). Not to mention Mario Brown is a hell of a player in his own right, evidenced by the Nova game. He needs to work on his fumbling issue, but he's fast (4.4-4.5 range) and very shifty, similar to Taiwan. He was averaging about 5 yards a carry during Spring Ball. Also don't forget that we have all of our big WRs back, and Kaufman is impossible to cover. BLM's brother Cory (two years older) redshirted last year and made some SICK catches in the Spring. He caught everything that went his way. We should have the best WRs in the Big Sky this year.

As far as defense, losing Sherritt does hurt. Zach Johnson will be taking on a bigger role though, so that bodes well. DT Andru Pulu, the transfer from UW, is just as big as Renard Williams, and was looking real good so far. Our run D up the middle this year is going to be nasty. You better hope your O-line is as good as you say it is, because with how Renard dominated Nova's All-American line, imagine having two Renards coming at you. Can't double team 'em both. The DBs are the biggest concern for EWU, since we lost both starting corners. However the guys vying for the spots had two pick 6's in the Spring Game, and numerous swatted balls, so it's not looking too bad.

I don't disagree about MSU; they will be very good, and the BSC title will likely hinge on our game against them. But also consider that prior to last year, we had won the last 7 straight. Even in 2006 with our all freshman team and we had to play in Bozeman, we beat 'em. We return most of our NC team, and we'll be on the red turf where we're undefeated. That will be the first game of the year (just like Montana last year). It's gonna be real tough for them, and I don't see it happening.

EWU 8-0, 9-2
MSU 7-1, 9-2
UM 6-2, 7-4
SAC 5-3, 6-5
Everyone Else

FYI, ISU will win two games in the Sky this year under Kramer. They almost did last year even.

Screaming Eagle,

Wow, your DL is pretty nasty.....cage the rage is always the challenge no matter what sport. Why did UW release Pulu? He had such a tremendous season, I thought he was going to be fighting for a starting position this season.

I guess UW's loss is your gain, but really, leaving a D1 program like the Huskies who are on an upswing really baffles a lot of us. Either way, he is a formidable player and a force to reckon with.

Have a great season, see you in October........
