Portland State fires Burton

Portland State just fired head coach Nigel Burton, just after the Viks completed a 3-9 record this season. Offensive coordinator Bruce Barnum, formerly of ISU, will take over as the interim head coach. I would think that there would be a good chance that Bruce would be able to get on somewhere with PSU's next staff as well, since he'll be doing a fair amount of recruiting for PSU over the next few months.

Can't say it was totally unexpected. We'll see where PSU goes with this. Remember when ISU was getting ready to play them there was some message board talk about Don Bailey, who played QB there, as being a possible solution to their issues.
