Portland State @ Idaho State

Thursday's games I think both teams possibley could lose...meaning PSU and WSU. One would assume that EWU and ISU will not win but it is possible especially if PSU & WSU don't show up ready to play.

The thing I don't get about ISU is they suck and at the same time they are very good!

They have lost 4 in a row and are starting to look like there is a chance they may not even make the Big Sky tournament though they still get NAU & Sac at home in a few weeks.

ISU beat Utah and lost to Sac.

Utah is turning out to be pretty good and well Sac...?

I wouldn't be shocked if ISU wins on Thursday and I also wouldn't be shocked if PSU wins by 20. I just don't understand the Bengals.

Also, I haven't heard if A. Morgan will be playing. If not, I think ISU has 0 chance of a win against PSU.

Either way, the Thursday matchups are important games before the bigger game on Saturday.

I'm also hoping Jones will be able to play in both games...I want the game on Sat to be as good as it can be on both sides.

I hope we can get 7,000+ fans on thurs vs EWU, and 8,000+ in the Dee on Saturday for the game of the year.

Big Sky Power Rankings: Week 6Categories: Big Sky posts

Bracket projections are really starting to heat up right now, and so far that’s a bad thing for the Big Sky.

If Weber State holds on and wins the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA tournament, most are saying the Wildcats will get a 15 seed.

I don’t see that projection getting any better unless Portland State is the team that goes to the Big Dance.

With a win over Gonzaga and the respect of being in the tournament a year ago, the Vikings and their Top 100 RPI could land them a 14 seed. Earlier this year, when Portland State was the projected Big Sky champion, that’s where most predictors had the Vikings.

If Montana wins the league, I could see the Griz sneaking into a 15 seed. But more realistically, they would be relegated to a 16 seed — the Big Sky’s second straight. Montana State would likely get a 16 seed as well.

But if anyone else wins the league, it would definitely mean the Big Sky is headed for the play-in game. That’s where teams with losing records generally go.

Now, onto the rankings …

1. Weber State (9-1, 15-8)
My mind is made up. Kellen McCoy is this year’s Big Sky MVP.

2. Montana (8-3, 17-7)
The way Montana is playing, I wouldn’t put it past the Grizzlies to win out.

3. Portland State (8-3, 17-7)
The Vikings are relying way too much on the 3-pointer.

4. Montana State (5-5, 12-10)
The Bobcats have some pathetic losses, but when they’re hot they can beat anyone. Just ask Weber State, Portland State, Colorado and Oregon State.

5. Northern Colorado (6-6, 10-15)
Congratulations to Tad Boyle and his coaching staff. The Bears should make the Big Sky tournament for the first time this season.

6. Eastern Washington (5-7, 11-13)
The Eagles finally stopped the bleeding by winning two at home last week, but it may be too little too late. Their closing schedule is killer. At Weber State, at Idaho State, vs. Northern Colorado and vs. Portland State. They could easily lose all four.

7. Idaho State (4-6, 7-17)
The Bengals are without a doubt the league’s biggest disappointment this year.

8. Northern Arizona (3-8, 6-16)
Too bad close losses don’t count for anything.

9. Sacramento State (1-10, 2-22)
Looks like the Hornets used up all they had to beat the Bengals

Thats a crock man, if Weber beats PSU at home, and if Weber were to host, beat them again, Weber should go in as a 14 seed, If Portland State would.

Morgan will be playing for ISU tonight. His father passed away Tuesday, he came back to town yesterday and will fly home for the funeral after Saturday's game vs. EWU.

They hit 40% of those threes down the stretch and they win. At least we know we were right when we said last year's team was better. Huff and Morrison are sorely missed.

Portland State was so concerned about winning in Ogden, that they forgot about everyone else in the conference.

What gets me is that in each of three recent losses, we have held leads in the second half. To me, this says that we aren't an inferior team or a team that isn't showing up to play. Rather, I think we are team that is losing focus and relaxing within the course of the game.

Well, the good news is that Wim Wiewel and friends probably don't watch bigskytv. So what they will remember from this season is hopefully something like this order:

1. We beat Gonazaga!!!
2. TV coverage and sold out Stott Center.
3. Ken Bone is staying with us.
4. We didn't win the Big Sky.
5. But who cares, we beat Gonzaga!!!

Still not bad overall. We can win the conference next year.

I haven't completely lost hope of winning the auto bid and making the NCAAs, but to potentially not even get the buy into the semis is pretty weak.
