Portland State Vs Idaho State

Oh, my! I have paid little attention to the rest of the Big Sky this year. I can't remember a time when Idaho State won more than 1 league game, so when I saw them scheduled for next week, I assumed they would be an automatic win...

Well, something has changed. Here's what they've done so far in conference play:
Beat Sacramento State by 20
Lost to Eastern Washington in Cheney by 3
Beat Southern Utah by 28
Beat Northern Colorado by 34

They are leading the Big Sky in total offense this year. Their lowest scoring game in conference play was 44 points, and PSU's highest Big Sky output was 23 points. I'm not real great with numbers, but something needs to change with PSU's offense if they are going to win.

The Bengals are not the pushover any more. Kramer has them playing solid Big Sky football, similar to his teams at Montana State and EWU. They get solid QB play from Arias who is really underrated in this quarterback led conference. The opposite of Cal Poly, who says we are going to run the football and we don't think you will stop it, the Bengals pass the ball and don't think anyone can stop it (a smaller version of Washington State's Air Raid offense). This is going to be a great test for us. Even ISU fans are just discovering the team so the only drawback for us is they don't travel well. It would be nice if Hersh and the Oregonian would hype the hell out of the matchup because it is going to be a good one.

It's true that we (ISU) love to throw the ball with Arias, for my money the best QB in the Big Sky (remember that VA of EWU is still out). BUT, we also have the league's leading rusher in Xavier Finney who ran for 238 yards yesterday. We actually rushed for over 100 more yards yesterday than we threw for.

Still, Coach Kramer isn't happy with how we played yesterday and he keeps raising the performance standards for the team.

Oh yeah...he also remembers the 77 points you guys put up on us two years ago. He's brought it up several times.

And you're right, you beat us last year at our place 38-31, so I'm thinking that it should be a pretty good game.

This should be an interesting match up on Saturday.

The best BSC offense versus the best BSC defense. I hope we can win the time of possession battle and keep ISU's offense off the field, as their offensive numbers are flat out scary.
