Would love to hear the impressions of those who were at the game. The Pluto TV was OK (I didn't have sound for some reason and listened to the radio broadcast that was 2-3 minutes ahead of the video) but you can't see the whole field.

Great game where the team played focused for almost the whole 60 minutes. From the quick strike beginning to McPherson pounding them late, the offense was in sync early and often. Someone stated it was hard to know what to take away. I get that. Historically, this team has played down to lesser competition and was gratified to see them push hard the whole game.

Gubrud played his best game and it showed in how the team stepped up around him.

Let's hope Gubrud and cast find something every week to prove. Really looking forward to the traditional improvement from game 1 to game 2 this week

The D gave up some bad drives in the first half, but dominated in the second. Still need to work on getting off the field, especially with 3rd and 5+.

It looked like we figured out that CWU didn't have the speed to cause matchup problems, but NAU does. This was a good warm-up, but it looks like CWU has taken a few steps backward from where they've been historically. NAU is a legit FCS team with legit D1 talent, and the Cougs look better than expected as well. The next two games will require the best from this team.

The offense was pretty good throughout with noticable improvement from the WR corps. D played a poor first half but did a great job with adjustments to put up the second half shutout. Overall it was a good performance. I’d give it an “A.”

still concerned on the D side of ball? Way to many missed assignments from ends and backers.

It seems to be a foregone conclusion that there’s concern with the D. At this point I just want them to create some turnovers.

D got 9 stops... Nine. 5 three and outs. Last season they avg 5-6 stops a game. Also, the offense scored so quickly in the first half, CWU had the ball 19 minutes. EWU had the ball 16 minutes in the second half and there were four 3 and outs on defense. Additionally, offense had 3 fumbles and the defense allowed ZERO points on those TO's.

The numbers suggest the defense was stellar.

Some people thought CWU would be a stout test. I suggest they were and the Eags did just what a superior team should. think Ore St v Ohio St.

Were some plays out of sync? Yes. I still think the situational substitutions are odd, but it didn't cost too much to experiment. The D blitzed off corners and up the middle and was disruptive. Apply this behavior to good throwing teams like NAU, UC Davis, Sac St... It really was a different strategy because they were more effective than past seasons, they committed to it. Again, second half was better than first half because the other team had to abandon any balance in their attack and the D took advantage of it instead of sitting back on their heels.

Overall the D was stellar. We will know more this coming Saturday. Go Eags.

Hightlights. Cap is from the 2010 season I think. It's the one I own.

The receivers looked a lot better compared to last year’s opener. Fewer dropped balls. Lots of athletic catches in traffic. More like what we’re used to seeing. I really like what they did moving Nsimba Webster into the slot.

These two posts ^^^^^^. WR was a concern heading in. The next test is whether they can create seperation and break tackles against DI talent.

And Lucky, I noticed and enjoyed the corner blitzes as well.

Assume the Inferno was still smokin Sunday AM. IMHO, Our Eags are going to put up outstanding individual player stats this year. Anyone know a site that publishes individual player statistics game by game?

That said I do have access to some pretty good data analytics software at work. I'd be curious to track and run some numbers over the course of the season...
