Post Game Reflections: Portland State

Didn't get to watch this live, but listened to the last half live. So, needless to say, I can't really say I have many observations.

I know a lot of people are frustrated by the ugly loss. Just try to temper the rage a bit and try to keep the discussion reasonable. GO EAGS :thumb:

That was great to get that final W. I'm just very fearful that Coop's played his final collegiate game.
OPEN MIND SET = BE POSITIVE AND POSITIVE THINGS WILL HAPPEN....we won't hear a word till late the following week.

There is part of me that says, "Someone finally figured us out, and a better team will use this film to beat us." But, on the other side, we had games like this in most of our best seasons. Gotta hand it to PSU. I personally thought they played really well. For the second week in a row, our offense sputtered at times. We punctuated the our of sync play with some big plays. Our defense struggled at times, but stepped up in some big ways, especially at the most critical times. And they were a hair's width from a couple of game changing turnovers.

My opinion is that our team will learn more from this game, than maybe any other. Special teams was solid tonight for the most part (allowed a couple of decent kickoff returns). I think Custer, and Pierce are turning into a tremendous RB tandem, with Custer on the cusp of becoming a big play RB threat, and Pierce becoming the hammer.

And, I freaking love Ebukam! He may not have always gotten home, but he was always a factor. I am sure we may face some mobile QB's, and maybe some as good as Kuresa, but I can't imagine many better than him. He was slippery!

Overall, so thankful to see the way the team battled adversity and found a way to win!

I'm glad I can say that the defense won it for us in a game where the offense was not clicking. I also believe that the bye week is critical for us at this point. I'm wondering how many players were lost for the season tonight.

I thought our LBs really got shown up in this one. We made Poetland State's mobile QB look like a monster. We're talking about a team that had a game where they amassed zero passing yards, but we struggled mightily.

Our offense was struggling all game long. I was surprised we didn't run the ball more often as they were dropping 7 or 8 deep every play. The passes just weren't in synch, and barring one TD catch, Bourne was invisible.

And with all that said, we still won. You've got to admire the heart of the team. Wining despite playing rotten is a talent all its own. And winning ugly is a helluva lot better than losing pretty.

We're 10-1 and get a week off and another banner for the conference championship. That's damn impressive.

Wasn't a pretty game, but it has been a SPECTACTULAR season! Winning by double digit margins throughout conference play (except last night), defense isn't a liabilty and has WON several games themselves.

despite not looking pretty, there aren't many teams out there that wants to be on EWU's side of the bracket. SHSU in a footrace might be the best shot at a L. Other than that, I see a high probability of EWU vs NDSU in Frisco.

I said it would be tight and it was...I was never concerned about the outcome. Serenity throughout the game knowing we are that special to find a way to win...faith and drugs.

just watched the game this morning... aside from some drops, overthrows, poorish OL pass protection and playcalling in general, nothing to worry about. Glad the Eags won it. Game balls to Descalo, Shaq, Custer, Pierce, Fettig, Tiuli... Oh, is this the first game where all the extra points went through?

Excited to see the bracket tomorrow at 11 est. Obzerver indeed predicted a close game and is thinking of changing his handle to Zaphod Beeblebrox. Pretty sure his prescience is mostly the drugs, deprivation tank and faith ;-)

Go Eags!

Gotta be honest, during the third quarter, I thought it was a 50/50 game at best. We were really struggling for a while there on both sides of the ball. Our defense seemed to get sorted out when they started playing a spy on the QB; he stopped having free space whenever he rolled out.

I'll give their QB a lot f credit, he played a monster game. His stat line won't show, but he kept them alive all game long.
