Looks like Chris Powers is a no-go for NAU.

I trust his TE backup will continue to scrap and at sometimes impress for one more week!

Will he be back for the Northern Colorado game ? Or is it wait and see game ? If the wins keep coming it would be nice to get some of those O-lineman back in action ASAP ! Another loss and it's all academic anyways ! GOEAGS!

I would guess even if Powers is back for UNC, he would sit just to make sure he is 100%. If we can beat NAU this weekend, we should be able to handle UNC at home with no problem, no knock on UNC but they are not very good this year. You never want to overlook an opponent, but after this weekend, if we can pull out a "W" than we should be able to heal up against UNC and make a push for the playoffs starting at Sac.

Any news on Brandon Kauf.? will he return this year, couple weeks? or is he done for the year?

Coach said at the NQ last night that they were going to apply for a red shirt for him because he will fit under the 30% playing time injury rule. He did not red shirt his freshman year.

Hope he's able to make the trip to Flagstaff. He was giving Coach Best a run for his money in the sideline intensity department against Weber.

Guy's got a bright future as a coach or motivator if that's the direction he wants to go.

Speaking of the sidelines, I saw Tyler Jolley in front of the D-line bench most of the last game. Anybody know if he is just a guest or a grad asst. or ??

Anyone know how the 30% rule works? Since Kauf played in 4 games and we will have 11 regular season games, that is more than 30%. I know Medical redshirts are pretty easy to obtain since he didn't redshirt as a freshman, but just curious if someone knows how it works. Is it by percentage of snaps? quarters? games?

Thanks.

Baldwin, during the coaches show on Monday, made it sound like it's not a straight 30% - there's some leeway - and that he thought that Kauf would get it.

The rule used to be 20%, it only changed to 30% recently. For some reason, I think you disclude the game in which the player was hurt. In other words, he only completed 3 of 11 even though he technically played in 4. I have no idea why I think this; I just think I heard it somewhere.

To Bring this back up.. is He going to be back for this game? It looked like Patrick Mealey was having some trouble against the big man at UNC albeit he had about 140 pounds on him. Anyone have any updates on Powers. How the Injury is. Is expected to play. If we need him to play? I do think he is a good player but can he go 100%

I believe coach Baldwin mentioned on the radio show last evening Mealey would be starting at center but thought Powers would see some time too.
