Pre Season Polls

Are the BSC Pre Season Polls for the top 6 teams actually taking place after 3 games in the Big Sky? Well, that maybe true for 5 out of the 6 teams but ISU has entered into the top 6 teams this week and could move up in the rankings with a win against Southern Utah on Saturday.

The head coaches and media picked the following teams to finish in the top 6 in the Big Sky.

1) Eastern Washington
2) Montana
3) Montana State
4) Cal Poly
5) Northern Arizona
6) Southern Utah

As of today, here are top 6 teams in the Big Sky

1) Eastern Washington 3-0, 6-1 overall
2) Montana State 3-0, 5-2 overall
3) Montana 2-0, 4-2 overall
4) Cal Poly 2-1, 3-3 overall
5) Northern Arizona 1-1, 3-3 overall
6) Idaho State 1-1, 3-3 overall

Let's get that win against Southern Utah on Saturday so Southern Utah or any other team does not jump into the top 6 teams.

It is still pretty early but you have to like the look of this team. Until someone figures out how to stop our offense or we have a really bad day the Bengals will keep winning. Still it is way too early to be thinking bout our position in the standings.

The Bengals will need to win against Southern Utah, Northern Colorado, and Portland State. Is it possible to win on the road this season? It really comes down to the Bengal defense and special teams to win these games.

Is it possible to win at Northern Colorado to end the losing streak on the road ? That may be the biggest game of the year for the Bengals.

Maybe we ought to focus on winning at home this Saturday against Southern Utah. Their overall won-loss record may not reflect it but they are not necessarily going to be a pushover. They beat Weber and were in each of their other BSC games including EWU & Cal Poly-SLO.

The biggest game of the year should always be the NEXT game on the schedule.

Start worrying about Northern Colorado and ending the road losing streak after the SUU game. Otherwise, we may be starting a new home losing streak.

+1

Couldn't agree more. ISU can be beaten by any team left on the schedule...

What do you mean that ISU can be beaten by any team on the schedule? We can beat anybody on the schedule, right? We beat SAC STATE and almost beat EWU. We will beat Southern Utah to stay in the top 6. I do not think Southern Utah will be able to put up enough points on the scoreboard to beat our offense. Win against Southern Utah and go to Northern Colorado with confidence which would be the biggest game of the year to snap the on the road losing streak.

ISU is 1-3 against D-I opponents.

It needs to do what it has been doing, play well, get better. Don't look past anyone.

Ed Lamb is a good coach. SUU put 39 points on the board at Cal Poly. Gary Crowton appears to be winding down his career at SUU as OC, but you'd be naïve to ignore his history. He's been considered an offensive guru, and he wasn't OC at places like Oregon and LSU (which won the 2008 national championship while he was there) for nothing.

Fortunately Kramer is a realist.

I do not see how Southern Utah can beat ISU unless Southern Utah can match our high powered offense. ISU is averaging 39 points per game on offense and are allowing an average of 37 points per game on defense. Southern Utah is averaging 22 points per game on offense and are allowing an average of 37 points per game on defense. We definitely have the advantage going into this game at Holt Arena.

JJB's right. You can't overlook any team in league play. Kramer really thought that the Bengals would beat SUU last year, and we ended up losing 19-9. Our offense didn't come to play.

Our offense has changed as we have a running game, our OL is experienced, and our scoring average is 39 points per game. We are playing indoors at Holt Arena. Look for the Bengals to win easily. If we cannot beat Southern Utah than it could be another long season.
