PREDICTION EWU 41 @ UC DAVIS 38 WK 6

Hard to believe it is week six already. I don't have any trepidation about this match up as long as the Eagles take care of the ball they way they have the past two weeks.

Expect the WR's to have BIG games and Mr. Dorton gets his first special team TD return. He's electric. Can the defense make a full game effort? It's up to the coaches at this point, it looks like they are experimenting sometimes instead of actually paying attention to the game at hand. It is a youngish staff. Plenty of athletes to make a good/great effort every week.

Always liked Hawkins, he was the mad hatter of his day at Boise. Am sure he's made football fun for a lot of his players and they are playing like it. The difference level in talent should be more obvious this week.

Eagles 48 - UC Davis 27

I'd be happy with something similar to last week, 45 - 28 good guys. I'd prefer not to have a standard 2nd quarter meltdown, but that's kind of expected at this point.

So, Hawkins picks up a QB from Junior college as a sophomore and turns him into the second coming of Kellen Moore. He isn't a running QB, but has put up impressive stats. Guess the idea is to put some pressure on him and take away his biggest two threats. Super big numbers against UND. Not changing my score, but they come out ready to play and facing the pre-season BSC leaders back to back with a chance to be in the mix has got to be motivating.

Someone go on their board and start a rumor, UCLA is looking at Hawkins to replace Mora. Pretty sure I saw that someplace.

Anyone else have any insight into UC Davis?

On QB Jake Maier: Pretty sure Tim Plough (Aggie QB, NAU OC, now Davis OC) went and grabbed Maier within the first 2 weeks he came back to Davis. Maier wasn't on the radar (at least the fan radar) until Plough got him committed. Perhaps Plough was talking to him at NAU.

On Hawkins: That rumor won't work for most. Hawkins is "home", and he's older. Seems very content making a difference at a place that is special to him. However, people do all kinds of sh*t for $3million-$5million a year. Never know how things will shake out a few years down the road in the coaching world.

On the game: Odds are against the Ags. Our secondary has scared the piss out of every Aggie fan for the last decade (so hard to recruit that position) which obviously doesn't bode well vs. the Eags.
Nobody here or on AGS picking Davis, but I will. 42-35 Davis.
Big student section and crowd, Brewfest festivities, big-time coach, team is motivated and well-coached for the first time since Bob Biggs retired.

The sleeping giant that is Davis 'aint woke yet (as the kids say).....but its getting close.

Speaking of sleeping giant I'm not sure if EWU has awoken. Not exactly sure what kind of team we have...I'm just aboard the EWU train taking in the ride...EWU wins on this road trip 49-37

This feels like a trap game to me. I think we drop this one but win out the rest of our regular season games.

UCD 48, EWU 35

As recently as two games ago, you predicted we'd finish 3-8. I don't think this team will fall into traps after the 0-2 start.

I'll go 49-31 EWU.

I think this will be a shootout a game we could easily lose if we don't bring our A game. I think we'll pull it out though.

Going with EWU 54-48
