Prediction Montana at EWU Nov 8th

The Eags are coming off a strong performance against a hapless UND team. The afterglow should help injuries heal and kick the practices up a notch or two this week.

Montana will be aggressive on offense, taking shots down field early and often to open up the run game. Eag's front 6-7 contains the edge and funnels the run to our interior run stoppers Cody, Albert and Ronnie. Stop the run and win the game.

Offensively, Eastern's balance overwhelms Montana. JW needs to be accurate on intermediate throws and get a little more air under the long passes so our talented receiving corps can make a play for him. Stretching the field sideline to sideline against Montana's will open the running lanes. Expect Forte, Brown, Wilson and Moore to have a big day.

EWU owns TOP by 7 minutes
runs for 250+ and 400+ through the air
TE's catch 2 TD's
JW completes 5 balls over 50 yds (catch + run).
First offensive play: play action bomb to Hill or Kupp for 60.

Montana wants this one more than ever. Not only are the playoff's on the line, but recruiting is impacted for both teams. Expect them to come out focused and ready to get after it.

EWU 55 - Montana 45

Definitely a big game, but I think we can RUN right over them. People keep prepping for our air attack, but Cal Poly annihilated their D Line, and our O line is top notch. If we are running the ball effectively the game really shortens up, meaning lower scores.

I don't think we are favored these days in a track meet, but they are pretty beat up. 45-38 with our O running the clock out after MT scores that last touch down.

I agree we can run against UM. Think this will open up the big play. Know JW can air it out.

TOP is everything here. Montana will need to capitalize on every single possession to have a chance, and I don't believe they will. EWU's D / ST will come up with a few takeaways early giving EWU's O a chance to open up a lead, which will allow that TOP in the 2nd half to be dominated by EWU.

EWU - 44

We took our foot off the gas last year and it almost cost us, that won't happen this year.

Eastern hasn't lost a regular season game in November since 2008 (home or away), that streak continues on Saturday...

EWU - 55
UM - 28

It was fun to watch the offense open up the UND game with a drive that took nearly 8 minutes off of the clock! Special teams and defense need to play big but the D seems to be coming into their own at just the right time.

Eastern-28
Montana-27

I think our offense will be able to stay balanced enough in the running and passing games to be productive, even with West at the helm. CP was able to run pretty effectively, and I think our OL and backs are better than the Mustang's, so that encouraging.

Even without Henderson, Montana's offense can be pretty efficient and hit some big plays. The D will need to come to play and I think we'll need at least one TO and/or Special teams play. That said:

Eagles 35, Griz 28

Unless they turn the ball over a bunch of times, there's no way we're scoring 55 points on the number one ranked defense in the Big Sky. Unfortunately, they just don't turn the ball over all that much.

This should be another close game and I think Eastern will need to score in the high 30's to win it and probably get a little help with a turn over and a few big plays.

Eastern 38
Montana 34

UND was ranked number one until we got to them. (in conference stats)

Hey fellas. First time Bobcat poster here at the red zone. Just wanted to stop by and wish ya luck against the jizzlies. I think you guys have one hell of a program there in Cheney and your team is certainly fun to watch play. For all the sh!t talking people do on your field / facilities they sure can't say a whole hell of a lot about the quality of your team. I'll be rooting for you guys from Billings MT. :thumb: I'm thinking EWU 42 UM 28.

I agree GoodDay, time of possession will be more important here than many other games. Our running game is consistent enough to maintain ball control with running backs healthy and ready to make an impact, and occasionally getting the ball to play makers in space. Baldwin mentioned on the radio last night that in the ND game he called plays more to Wests strengths and it showed against one of the top defenses in the Big Sky. Our very young D-line now has almost a full season of experience under their belt (pads  ) and it is showing. We have most or all of our d-backs healthy.
Montana has some play makers too but not enough to carry the day so I think our D has a good day.
The Eagles averaged 49 ppg with Vernon and 37.25 with Jordan as QB. Given that Jordan is getting more comfortable and play calling has been adjusted to his strengths, and considering the Griz are the best defense we have played lately, I would see the Eagles match their average under Jordan.

So my guess is Eagles 38 Griz 28

As far as the Vernon question, Beau is tricky enough and likes consistently so I would expect Jordan to start and regardless if we are leading or not Vernon will get popped into the game enough to keep the Griz defense off balance and cause them to burn at least one time out.
