Prediction National Championship EWU vs NDSU

Despite a momentary compulsion to give in to superstition and not put up the prediction thread, realized again the game is played on the field and no fans will be suiting up, so here it is.

Think this one comes down to OL play for Eastern. Know there are a lot of other factors and will say that this team measures up well in most of those categories as well.

Eastern's OL has helped this offense turn in top 20 stats rushing and passing with two different QB's this season. It hasn't been perfect, Nicholls State DL was in the backfield most of the game and EB3 struggled to make plays early. Looking at NDSU's DL their TFL numbers just don't add up to a dominating DL. They are a good DL but believe their defensive backfield locking the passing game down has given the DL a lot of time to eventually make a play. Also, NDSU hasn't actually faced a top 20 passing offense this year or the weapons Eastern has at it's disposal.

Eastern has faced 4 teams, five times (UC Davis twice) that have top 10 TFL numbers. Three of them in the playoffs. NDSU barely cracks the top 50. If NDSU can't get pressure with the front 4, Eastern will test the defensive backfield and establish a running game. Eastern's OL has been very good all year when healthy and they are healthy now.

NDSU will get it's yards but leaving a safety high, letting the DB's man up on the WR's, ignore the play action and let the LB's and rover fly around the field will yield some stops and put the ball back in the offense's hands. How many stops will it take to get the W? One more than NDSU gets.

This will be a game of season average's.

Eastern gains 540 yds/gm, NDSU 470 yds/gm. It's been noted that Eastern has given up some yards to teams like Maine, how many points were yielded? Under 22 points a game. Yards aren't points. NDSU could very well go for 500+ yards in this game. What's crazy is Eastern having 7 replacements on defense for the entire playoff's and still only allowing 386 yds/gm... NDSU's numbers are stellar at 285 per game.

There is no hiding that fact NDSU is a great team, playing well, with a lot on the line. Eastern in contrast has several key players out and the QB of the future behind center.

Going with the averages:

Eastern 45 - NDSU 42

May the Best team win!

No way that over hits.

NDSU 34- EWu 17

NDSU will ball control, Play solid defense & seldom run up the score.

52-28 eags. Too many options on the ground and threw the air to slow down this senior laden team. Defense with the return of Tiuli should be in for the fight that'll take place in the trenches. Expect Ojoh to have a big impact as well. I believe this might be the start of the Best Dynasty!

Eags win the turnover margin 3-1 and the game 34-29. Bison go down in a great game.

I'll take 56-17 EWU

Eags win in Frisco. 42-21 EWU!

Got a lot scrappy on AGS over the holiday... First of all, the Bison fans haven't watched any Eastern games, well at least of majority of their posters, second of all, they must be getting nervous because the tone went hostile for many of the Bison fans too..

The NDSU team is very good. Expect a tough contest. Eastern doesn't need to go outside what it does well to make this a contest, just execute and show the physical, heads up play they have all season.

They have some good, knowledgable posters over there...the other half are Peacocks.

Some cogent thoughts on how NDSU has won games this season. Most of the Bison posters haven't watched an Eastern game this season. Pronouns confuse me, is the "they" Bison fans on AGS or just AGS posters in general?

“They” being Bizon fans.

Thanks Ranger. :) Looking forward to your prediction. This one is really a crap shoot. Still making the trip to Frisco, no matter the result. This team has been fun to watch and cheer for this season.

One week to go, and in Frisco TX, it's finally, first downnnnnnnn EAGLES!!!

Final score: National Champions EAGs 48, Runner Upper BISON 17

Eagles will lineup with all three active TE's, Limo-Jones and Grady to create an overwhelming size advantage in the passing game (they are all 6'4" or taller) :o

It’s kind of the same thing here. The old school guys are generally quite knowledgeable, but the Johnny-come-lately’s often don’t know much. In fairness, I don’t mind this board being a site for all opinions... I just like to see the interest.

Prediction Dopa? **edit** know you don't like to predict, feel free; no one is really keeping score. Old school love to you Dopa. :-)

So predictable. :-) You do crack me up sir.

Nice article on the WR corps blocking to make the team more successful. Not a lot of chatter about these guys, know it feels to me like a let down the past two years with inconsistent receiving, but have noted on several occasions how well they are blocking downfield on big plays like the 85 yd EB3 run against SUU and all the long RB runs. Real team effort. They have done enough to get Eastern this far. Really don't want to ask for more then they are capable of giving but would love to see Jayson and Andrew have breakout games against NDSU to go along with an outstanding OL performance. Scarily, this one may come down to a Baldwinesque era shootout with so many injuries on D despite how well everyone has stepped up. Go Eags

I love prediction threads!

Let's go with some unconventional predictions.

McPherson gets his first throwing touchdown, to who else but EB3.

Roldan completes his perfect season with 1 field goal and 5 extra points. While we're at it that fg will be the game winner as time expires, a la revenge for 2016.

Eb3 line looks like this:
20/25, 325 Yards, 1 TD, 1 receiving TD

Receivers do a great job moving the chains with Andrew Boston showing the future is bright.

Running backs collectively get 150 yards, 2 TDs

Defense comes up huge with a scoop and score to keep the game close in the 4th quarter in a do or die drive.

Ketner lands a sack, pass broken up, 17 tackles and an NFL contract.

Decent pass coverage all around, causing Stick and the bison to beat us their legs, which they slice through like hot butter. I'd wager 400 yards on the ground given up the EWU defense. All 5 TDs scored on the ground across 3 bison players including future NFL player Easton Stick.

Final score 38-35 Eags pull it off.

Prediction: Chris Ojoh hits Easton Stick when he attempts to scramble. Hits him so hard in the 6th minute Stick loses his jock and a shoe. During concussion protocol they find his shoe and he puts it on his ear and asks for a milkshake(a cheese curd). Dr.'s clear him and he promptly throws 2 pic sixes, one to Kupp and one to Dylan Ledbetter. Eags win.
