Prediction Thread Eagles 42 @ Cal Poly 21 Great WIN!

Since there are threads about the game already started, guess everyone is ready to get down and pick the winner.

CP is a good team and a couple of weeks ago, I was concerned about a Montana and CP back to back . Today, I am not concerned, the growth on the defensive side of the ball and the absolute flexibility of the offense says this will be a good game, but not close. Talent, mental toughness and physicality all line up on the side of the Eagles. Was using the term "special" after week 1 and that hasn't changed. Eastern is special this season and will come out victorious this week.

Expect big games from our top three WR's again and solid OL play. D will set the edge and allow all our young, hard hitting Safety types to make plays. DT's to get pressure up the middle making it hard for CP to make throws as they fall behind early. Loving Tiuli and Sommer and rest of cast on DL. Fourth quarter will be Jabari time.

This game has been more concerning to me than the Montana game ever was. CP has shown that they can play with the best of them when they totally dominated SDSU earlier in the season. For EWU, this game will all come down to how well the defense prepares for the triple option. And as SloStang mentioned, Graves has the ability to pull it and be really efficient throwing the ball down the field so I'm not totally sure how you can really prepare for that.

I hate that we have to play this game so late in the season, but it should be our last major hurdle going into the post-season. I don't expect ISU will be much of a contest, and PSU will be tough but we should beat them. The playoffs start this Saturday for EWU.

42 - 38 Eags but man I hate this game. These guys execute the triple option at a very high level and teams like this have traditionally given the Eags fits. I think it's going to be very close.

go eags!

Hello EWU fans from here in SLO. The biggest problem Cal Poly has is our banged up defense. I think EWU has a big advantage. CP will have to play perfect ball to pull off the upset. If most everything goes CP's way, CP stands a chance. If EWU gets a couple of breaks, and CP's offense can't keep marching down the field, it could get ugly for my stangs.

Lot of thoughts on this game. Think everyone is aware that good option teams have given the Eags issues and created close outcomes in the past. WiseEagle and I agree the physicality and overall team speed of Eastern will win out. Don't have the stat on mistackles this season, but most would say that we are a much better tackling team this season than past years as well. Our players are ready for a different type of contest than the past few weeks and look forward to showing on the field how far they have come. Expect 7-8 in the box and tight man coverage to make this a long day for Dano and company, not to mention getting hands up on DL to disrupt the shorter QB.

If EWU stacks the box I expect to see Cal Poly calling a lot of play action passes and going over the Eagles heads.

It looks like CP gave up a lot of points against Suck St. That may or may not meaning anything, but regardless I think we'll get our points. Probably a shootout.

EWU 51-CP 45

I've predicted a shootout many times this year. Every time, we haven't had a shootout. The eagle defense is now good enough to prevent shootouts. They will do the same against Cal Poly.

47-38 EWU

Makes sense, not sure if you have watched much of Eastern this season, but our overall man coverage has been heads and shoulders above the past few seasons and they like to play physically. Not saying some plays won't be made, but wouldn't hold out for the type of efficiency CP has had to date in the passing game, especially if we get the push up the middle our DL has shown capable of. Looking to see us go all UW defense on CP this week. Uniquely, CP is a well coached, disciplined team who will need help from EWU to have a shot. I, for one, vote against helping CP out. :-)

What is the team averaging now in Takeaways? Thinking at least 2 a game. Given that number CP doesn't score 38, right? Am so ready for this game and it will be on LATE for me in the ATL... 9pm sucks.

You're right, it should probably be pushed down a bit more. Part of my score is garbage time. I think that this game will be a lot like 2013 when we make a very large lead that shrinks as we go into run out the clock mode.
