Wow! Just Wow! Super impressed with the young men on this year's team. Left it all on the field last week. Thank you.

On to Idaho. Know a lot of fans on the board don't have a lot of respect for Idaho, I think they are a good team who will only improve given another season or two in the BSC. Can't say I have any insight into this year's Idaho team except that belief. There are no John Friesz or Nussmeier's on the team this year so even a depleted Eagle defensive backfield may be OK.

Weather won't be a factor.

Eagle's BIG in this one.

Idaho is playing pretty good defense after an absolute disaster at Penn State. They don't do much offensively. They're averaging just 11.5 points against D1 opposition. If there was ever a game where our defense could improve a lot in a hurry, it's this one. If they start moving the ball on us, we're in trouble.

A lot will come down to our confidence. Last week hurt really bad. We need to get our bad-ass mojo back and just be prepared to line up and pound on someone. That was what impressed me the most about last year's team, and we just haven't shown it at all this season... and especially so on defense. In fairness, we weren't great defensively last year until about the end of September when it seemed to come together. Maybe we're just working out the kinks, but we can't have any more letdowns as every game has added importance given the rough start to the season.

Good analysis

Until it stops being softer than baby poop, EWU's defense is going to prevent the team from making a deep playoff run. Now it's a unit that has several new starters, so there is plenty of room for growth. But its last two showings were ugly. And the Eagles lost their best chance at a resume-booster with the 49-45 loss to JSU. The only quality win opportunities left on the schedule now is maybe UND and maybe Montana.

Gotta be honest, I'm just concerned with winning enough to make the playoffs at this point. I'm "resetting my expectations." Any win is a good win when you're sub-.500.

Eags win 34-31 in OT.

This is a must-win for Aaron Best! A choke-fest here means Eastern is in trouble. I want to see Eric Barriere grow up and LEAD his team, and I (respectfully) want to see Aaron Best do the same. Don’t throw in the towel because you choked in that hostile environment last week, this could still be a great season! Sometimes it’s about how you respond to a though time, and this game will show us what the Eags are made of.

We dropped the ball and I think lost a top 4 seed. To me everygame is a must win. Coaches and players know it and will play accordingly starting Sat. I feel sorry for Idaho in this one in front of home crowd.
44-14.

Custer on JSU and looking forward>

“It was a bad loss and good at the same time,” said Custer, who referred to the game as a growing experience littered with positives, and with a few glaring problems.

My takeaway from Custer's comments is that the team got the wakeup call they seriously needed. It was only after the Weber loss last year that the team focused entirely on the goal.

Am I concerned? Am I seeing a lot of predictions that put the Eagles offensive output right around Shoemaker's historical average? Will the defense find their identity? Can they get situational personnel sets correct? Did the US give up when Germany bombed Pearl Harbor?

Shit. I don't know. Will Eastern be the superior team on the field in the Kibbie dome. Damn straight! Go Eags!

I'm editing my prediction after reading Spokeman article speciall on the injury front. And I don't think EB3 is at 100% if he is then play calling stinketh. But what do I know? I know the score will now be 34-24. We still have balls so lets do this!

EWU wins 56-17. My Vandals cannot score with their Grid Kid middle school QB at the helm. It will be a long day for the few Vandal faithful.
I hope I am wrong.

I'm out the door this morning to play a tennis match in tolerable conditions (low 80's). When I return, will make chili with my boys, settle in for some afternoon football and then tune in to Larry and Paul with the LiveStats running too, since I don't get Root Sports. Wish I could see this one.

Know the Eagles will rebound this week and make a run through their conference schedule. Win today, win next week, win the BSC and take the seeding given and win the whole f'ing thing. This team will be a monster by the end of the season. Let's take care of this one first.

Go Eags!

Ball to the wall

So had a good week of Tennis. 6-2, 6-0 this morning and 6-0, 6-2 Wednesday. What happens on the tennis court is not a leading indicator of Eagles performance, but will say getting out some of the frustration from last Saturday was one of the motivations to grinding the opponents underfoot. Implacable. Would like to see some of that today from the Eagles. Just bulldoze everything in their paths. We saw some of this last year and would like to see it again.

Secondly, the chili is very tasty. .

Watching Maine struggle with Colgate on the stadium channel on pluto tv. Pluto also host the Eleven network which has Sac St game I think. Cal's offense is awful btw.
