CB Josh Lewis backup D'londo Tucker
CB Nzuzi Webster backup Brandon Johnson
Safety Mitch Fettig backup Anfernee Gurley
Safety Tysen Prunty backup Calin Criner
LB Ketner Kupp backup Chris Ojoh
LB Kurt Calhoun backup Jack Sendelbach
Rover Cole Karstetter backup Kendrick Johnson
DE Nick Foerstel backup Conner Bauman
DE Keenan Williams backup Jim Townsend
DT Jonah Jordan backup Kieth Moore
NG Jay Tee Tiulli backup Dylan Ledbetter

I really like this Defense! With very strong players in the front end like Tiulli to go with a great Safety in Fettig I think we have great leadership! I love our depth at CB and LB. In a lot of cases the starters in that area are interchangeable. The question mark for me is do we have an elite pass rusher? It will be interesting to see if we can put pressure on with our front four. This will be the year that we have an above average defense and can really put the hurt on some teams.

I agree, on paper, both offensively and defensively, we have an incredibly talented team. We have some very strong starters, and some backups that have to be very close behind. Luis, Webster, and Tucker at CB is awesome. I'm excited about all four safeties on the two deep. I wondered if we'd see Keenan after the offseason trouble this year. Tiuli is a force!

I think if the coaches can put all the pieces together, this team can go very far. But our team was close to this talent level last year, and had some misteps. Personally, I think a year under Best's belt is going to make a big difference, and we will be in the running for another BSC championship and run in the playoffs.

Anyone know if Eastern is going to be a base 4-2 this season? It seemed like most of the time the defense was 3-4 later last year.

There appears to be talent on paper, but the D will need to improve a LOT in 2018. They had some atrocious outings last year. Even if the points were kept within reason, it seemed like the other team just picked up first down after first down after first down. The big key will be getting 3 and out.

I'm hoping the loss of Tiuli was a lot of the reason for the problems. Getting him back, and keeping the top guys healthy and on the field, will be of utmost importance.

Good to see Keenan Williams back on the depth chart after paying his penance, whatever that was. Still wish we had more size on the D line but overall that’s a good looking group on paper.
