Predicted to finish 7th by Coaches and Media, hard to argue with much here....

Places 4-8 (and possibly 9) will likely be interchangeable. Spots 1-3 will likely be significantly ahead of that group. The Tail End Charlies will likely be significantly behind that large middle group. IMO, the conference is too big....

I wouldn't put it past the Hornets to make some noise this season, though (especially early)....

I always feel like the Hornets are in the middle of the pack, the deal about the Big Sky is the Luck of the draw in who you play.
Key Games
EWU in our Big Sky opener. Who is this team going to be? They could be 0-3 coming to SAC they play Oregon, MSU and Northern Iowa. Could be interesting

MSU- I do not see us going to Bozeman an winning tough

ISU they lose a great QB like us and we have them at home.

Cal Poly - we have a bye meaning 2 Weeks to prepare. This is huge for preparing for the Triple Option and I really believe if Sankey does not get hurt it is a closer game. Next play after he went out was a long TD run.

NAU- always drops games at the end of the year. They could have been Big Sky Champs last season but dropped the final two to North Dakota and Southern Utah. After beating EWU
You never know what is going to happen. Win they games we should and 1 to 2 were not and it is a great year

year number 20 for Sac State in the Big Sky Conference. Believe 5-3 has been our top Big Sky record in 19 seasons. Seems like matching that goal or better would be a goal for any Hornet football team to shoot for.

Well said OH23 and I agree. We have been a middle of the road program for the past 5 years or so and the preseason pick seems about right. If things can come together at OL and QB then I think the Hornets will be fine and hit that mark again this season.

Best Case Scenario for Hornets

Eastern Oregon W
Washington L
Weber W
EWU W
UNC W
MSU L
S Utah W
ISU W
Cal Poly W
NAU W

Worst Case

We probably are somewhere in the middle

Yes, and no, OH. Washington's probably about middle-of-the-pac[k] in their league, but we HAVE been known to get wins in that league. We ALSO have been known to blow games against the Manure Pile. I think that 11-0 is at least POSSIBLE, though decidedly not likely. UW, EWU, MSU, and CP will all be tough games. UW is by no means an auto-win, but I wouldn't exactly call it an auto-loss, either. Your conclusion is probably correct, though, OH. We'll probably finish somewhat better than .500, but we DO have the potential for a spectacular breakout season, and that's what I'm banking on....

I would tend to agree with the worst case scenario. We are unproven at QB, not sure if Milanovic will be around which leaves a huge hole in the O-line, the D-line is unproven and the defense as a whole is still suspect in my mind. Some young guys are gonna have to step up and injurys will have to be limited this year to reach .500.

We need to look at the big picture as well. Problem is we do not have a lot of resources to know what other teams have lost. I do believe we are another year away. But there are reasons to be optimistic.

I am tired of middle of the road as well but with a 2nd year Head Coach we will need to be patient. This is college football. It does not happen over night.

Thanks, OH23, that's too bad to hear. New guys need to be developed in a hurry to fill that void.

I'm hoping to have something out in a few weeks. I think we will fall somewhere in the 3-7 wins range.

Areas of concern for this season: OL, QB, DE. That's it. We have experience and depth at the interior DL spots, with stud Sankey backing up after that. I would be more concerned if Sankey wasn't around.

OL really needs to get it together quick, otherwise it is hard to expect much from Kniffin if all he is doing is running for his life.

With the OL you will have a mix.
4 year starter Lars Hansen returns and will protect the QB Blind side
3 year starter Casey Dakin is back to help the inside
Lake Aiono who was a redshirt freshman last year actually started over Dakin to start the season and then had an injury so that is encouraging
Anthony Viveros who was a JC transfer last year should take over the starting center spot and I thought looked good in spring ball.
Right Tackle is the biggest question
Possible Starters would be
Pu'e Tonga RS Soph
Rajee Jordan RS Soph
Jon Bade RS Soph
Taylor Tappin RS Freshman

You would sit here and say why haven't they played as much. Problem was they have two 3 year starter
In front of them.
We went into the 2012 season with two RS freshman Tackles and beat Colorado.

Always optomistic about our Sac State Hornets football team.

A team that is always right there at the end.

Right there in overtime.

Right there with a field goal to win it.

Right there with a huge comeback with one minute left to go.

Right there with a win in hand accept for a penalty.

Right after a huge score and then....

May all these scenarios change for a great season in 2015.

May all our young hungry players step up and get it done.

Believe we have the right coaches in place to have a really good season.

And trust that no one in the big Sky takes us for granted whatever the other boards may say.

All the teams in the Big Sky know that Sac State competes.

They may slam our facilities and our commuter school stigma but they do not take us for granted. Trust they know they have their hands full with Sac State!! They may say Sac State is a win but history says different. Never overlook Sac State

And trust all of us are not overlooking the potential this year. We have a very good chance to make some noise every game!!

Sac State Pride.

Singers Up.

Trust all the players are working hard to get ready for the upcoming camp and the first game just 7 weeks away!!

I have heard that past behaivour is the best predictor of future outcomes. Therefore I am surprised to see the "W" next to Davis in all of your prediction comments.

Don't you guys remember what happens year in and year out in the game against even relatively weak Aggie teams. Here I'll help you; Sac takes a big dump right in front of all their fans, every single year.

Cheers!

AggieMBA

Recent past would tell us we would win. We currently have the trophy and the Aggies suck right now. Maybe you guys can get a win vs. Northern Colorado this year pretty sure you lost to them at home. Also how many local players you sign last recruiting class may I say 0 to Sac State 8.

Looks like phaggiemba is off his meds again, we're not expecting your trolling until late November.
