PRESSURE'S ON--NAU

Next game for Wildcats, @ NAU...pressure will be on Lumberjacks to 'hold/save serve' at home, after losing on the road to UNC/UND! Can Wildcats sweep this week? Would be great, but a split (the more likely win over Sac St) would be nice, cuz it's on the road. If Weber State can preserve wins at home (with biggest challenge coming against Northern Colorado on Feb 8) and add a few wins on the road, it looks favorable. Sure there's no guaranteed wins at all in BSC, but you can speculate! :twocents:

This game is huge. The Lumberjacks, despite being on a little bit of a slide are still gonna be very tough to beat on their home court and you know they are going to remember what happened down there last year, they will be looking for a little revenge. The key is staying out of foul trouble, the problem is this is the Big Sky and...

I think this whole fouls on the road things gets blown out of proportion a bit. Looking at the last two sets of Thursday - Saturday games in the big sky (that's 16 games - I excluded the SUU games, for obvious reasons), the home team was called for more fouls in 5 of the 16, the visiting team was called for more fouls in 9 of the 16, and in 2 games the number of fouls called was equal. Furthermore, in these 16 games the visiting team was called for an average of 18.8 fouls and the home team was called for an average of 17 fouls. Doesn't seem to me that the road team is at a real disadvantage.

Prof, nice bit of stat checking.

There seems to be an inconsistency, always from the viewpoint of the fan on missed calls.

If you watched the Arizona/Utah Pac-12 game yesterday, there was a moment where an AZ player went to the ref under the basket, put his arm around the shoulder and they had a brief chat.... Sure looks wrong, I think the refs and players should keep an amount of distance to at least appear impartial.
:wall:

Read an interesting tidbit in 'BigSkyBasketball' - Jon, that so far the home team has won nearly 80% of BSC games, the highest % of conferences in the country. As a side note, was wondering if NAU, EWU, WSU & UNC are the only teams that have not lost any at home? Obviously, winning at home is key to success in the BSC.

It's early, but teamrankings.com has the BSC ranked #25 of 32 and speculates only on Weber St. (with the Big Sky auto bid) as a 16 seed possibility, 64th team bid rank (68 total teams bid). Is that meaning a likely play-in game, or are #65 thru #68 the four play-in candidates? :coffee:

GO CATS!!

Mitch Strohman calling the shots. Gotta love Mitch's work. Very impartial call guy.

Worst to best on air personalities:
11. UNCO (He is biased to such a degree, that it is almost funny listening to his broadcasts. I think he test's bull seaman for a day job)
10. UND's (I can't believe he was mocking the Dee Events Center's crowd lol)
9. MSU (sheer stupidity...he uses sheep as drinking buddies)
8. UM (Not as bad as MSU's but you can tell that he has spent too much time with livestock: UM coeds)
7. Weber...Sorry, as much as I love Karl, he is a real homer. Fine with me though, I love Weber so...
6. PSU: he doesn't really have much to report, but the football game this year was laughable that he called.
5. ISU: Just cause I don't like the Bengals, but I've never heard him so I have no idea.
4. SUU...uh, we know SUU is know for its theater department, but the on air dramatizations while calling a basketball game is a bit much.
3. EWU...I just feel bad for him. He doesn't really know who plays for E. Wash let alone for the visiting team. Ignorance is bliss in Cheney, just look at their football field.
2. SAC...a couple of years ago, the guy actually started to mock how badly the Hornets were playing. "Dickson with the ball and, yep, that's to be expected, he passes it to the guy wearing the completely different colored jersey. Well, this is, afterall, Sac State basketball. Is anyone even listening?" LOOOOOL
1. NAU...the Mitch is the man, but I always want his team to lose when playing the Cats.
