Price of Success

According to Skyline Sports, Facebook and Twitter, Sac State cornerback coach CJ Cox will take the same position at the University of Montana. I felt that coach Cox did a great job with the cornerbacks this year, and that the success the program had in 2017 is being acknowledged with coaches being hired away. Hopefully coach Sears can find another good young coach that wants to be part of the rise of Sac State football.

I actually don't see it that way. If he had left for an FBS job, then yes. But CJ Cox left for the SAME* position for a conference opponent. The way I see it, he's a sell out. Now, it's obvious the Montana has a much more prestigious past than Sac but he made this move because it's easier* for him to win. Pay should be in the same ball park if I'm not mistaken. What a sell out.

Cox did a good job but I wouldn't read too much into his departure. As far as I know he came late, (fall camp?), was from Texas, played at UNLV, no other real connections to California or Sac State. He left to coach with his UNLV Coach Bobby Hauck who returned as HC at Montana, understandable. No time to panic!

I wouldn’t call him a sell out. He played for Bobby Hauck at UNLV. So the relationship is there. No idea how much he is making.

In most cases, I would agree with GAS, but given the prior relationship with the new HC (same as the old HC), I can see it.
