Proctor Has Left the Team....

Radio announcer McElroy reported tonight that Proctor is no longer on the men's team, but gave no specifics. Has anyone heard anything about the reason(s) why?

Grades? I can't really say his 34.9% FG percentage and his 6.5 points per game will be missed. He does have athleticism but he didn't know how to finish. When he was able to drive to the basket, he most likely missed the layup or short jumper. He also is tied for the team lead with an average of 3.1 turnovers per game.

If this in fact true, the good thing about this is the freshman Groom will see more playing time. However he has also struggled to finish his drives to the hoop. Hopefully some added playing time can remedy that issue.

according to Jeff Goodman's blog, Zach Nelson is transferring along with Proctor. UOP has 4 transfers, including their top returning player, Allen Huddleston. Sounds like our off-season last year in Davis.

The good doctor is correct about UOP. Three of the four were expected, but the Huddleston defection will hurt. That combined with graduation will leave UOP with NO players who have had significant PT. Rumor is that these players are leaving due to dissatisfaction with coach Bob Thomason's motion offense. Of course, where there is trouble, there is also opportunity. Tiger fans are hoping that some of the newcomers will step up. (Man, I hate that sports cliche.)

UOP is also expected to be a major focal point in an upcoming 60 Minutes expose regarding a sexual assault perpetrated by a former player (who moved on to Idaho). Nothing ever happened with the case, but now people are making a big deal over a supposed "cover-up" that never happened, several years after the fact.
