The release for the UW game has a note about Salem Communications switching the PSU broadcasts from 910 AM to 800 AM.

RADIO HOME OF THE VIKINGS WILL MOVE TO 800 AM IN JANUARY
Portland State’s radio home will move permanently on Jan. 5 to 800 AM KPDQ. Salem Communications, with whom Portland State has a radio contract, will switch the broadcast of Viking basketball games from AM 910 KTRO to its sister station, 800 AM KPDQ. The signal strength of KPDQ is slightly larger than the current KTRO signal, extending a little further north and south, and reaching approximately 130,000 more customers. The total reach of the station is over two million customers in the Willamette Valley. KPDQ is also available on a free live audio stream on the internet at www.kpdq-am.com.

Really? A religious station? Regardless of political views, aren't people a little bit skeptical about this?

This will be fun during football as I mutter the f-word under my breath while listening to an add for the Bible Answerman during timeouts.

This is a little weird.

I'm certainly not happy about it. My first response when I read the news was "Cool, we won't be on the conservative talk station anymore." Then I looked up 800 AM and realized we'd be on the only thing worse. I pray that one day PSU is big enough that 1080 will want us again.

I'd rather they expand the tv contract than the radio one. It would get them in the local news a lot more, and perhaps create opportunities for late night nationwide appearances like the WCC sometimes gets. As to the radio history, I would guess it may have something to do with Tom Hewitt, his ideals and beliefs, and his connections.

What are those ideals and beliefts? I really like Tom, although I've never met him in person.

I've never met Hewitt, but I can imagine that his ideals are the polar opposite of those of any Big Sky referee. ;-)

Didn't Teri Mariani work our newest Salem Communitcations radio agreement? I seem to remember that being done by her when she was sitting in as AD.

No complaints. Just reiterating what I've heard. Devout Christian and conservative per what he says regarding the other programs on KTRO. (ie. Hugh Hewitt)
