In Ogden: Weber State leads 22-2

they looked really good in OOC but only broke .500 in big sky after winning at isu on thurs. this should be a tough game for us to win.

PSU OOC:
3 road wins vs west coast conf
beat Portland, LMU, santa clara
won at riverside
beat utah st
destroyed Cal in berkely.

they are by far the best road team (6-3) in the sky

And to think i could have stayed home and watched it on tv, missed out on the great atmospher, and not delt with the chore going to the Dee is...what was I thinking.......

GO WEBER!

What a horrible game.

The student section was lit. The crowd was large and alive. Both teams fought hard. The good guys won. The refs were confused. We overcame tremendous pressure all game long. The dancers were fun to watch, including one of the guys. The cheer squad was sensational, as usual. The foot ball team was recognized for their accomplishments in 2017. Halftime was very entertaining. Drivers left the venue in an orderly fashion. The game went right to the wire. Two of our freshmen continued to look better. Our coaches made in game adjustments that probably won the game for us.

All in all it was a horrific experience. I'll probably call the AD and request that everyone be fired. Then I'll go off and shoot myself..... Just sayin'. :tothehand:

Wow...Olds, I'm really glad that you and Wildcat are content, and if this is all you want from the program and department. Great...you two are getting what you want. Was the game last night awesome! Yes, I had a great time. The issues are still there however. Harding isn't a point guard, Chapman isn't a 3, Braxton seems to have peaked, Dallas isn't that quick and is a defensive liability, and we chuck up a ton of 3's. Worst of all, is the "standing" around in a motion offense. Doc has really come around and Chapman is playing better, which is going to really help the Cats down the stretch. One night doesn't resolve all the concerns. Is the team doing better; yes. But, they should play well at home.

As for the atmosphere, Wildcat isn't, but you are old enough to remember full houses. Here are the facts, it was a Saturday night game, so, traditionally, the crowd is going to be a bit bigger. Yet, you are saying the student section was good. Yes they were louder and the numbers were better. However, there are 28,000 students and the section last night was maybe 10 rows deep. They were loud and great and I'm glad they were and hope they keep showing up, but there are three total sections reserved for students. Imagine...it could be better. That is the complaint with what is happening now and you are part of the issue, since you are letting athletics off the hook and condoning their laziness. I'm glad you are fine with a half full stadium, where the student section is a quarter filled in one of three sections. I'm glad last night was your superbowl, but for me, it could and should be better, especially with the consistent success this program has had. Fact, the deep pocket, committed fans are finding themselves more and more likely on the wrong side of the grass and athletics isn't building up a fan base to replace them with. Like I said in the SAC thread, our fan base is shallow. But, you and Wildcat are fine with just enough and that is great. I'm happy for both of you that last night was your superbowl, and the best that you expect from athletics. 1/3 full stadium, 10 rows of students, and the same idiotic guy screaming into the mike. Great for you two!! Glad you condone mediocrity.

You know that I respect you Tal, and everyone who regularly posts on this board. I, too, want to see progress in the program and at the school. I was editorializing just a bit, but that is what we do in a forum.

Almost everybody's road to success has peaks and valleys. The program is not on one of the peaks right now, but it is moving forward.

My observation is that everyone is working hard to get to the next step forward. Are they doing it the way each individual would do? Of course not. None of us give the orders. However, I respect those that do. It's a little bit like the officiating in a game. Some times you see things better when you are close to it and sometimes the opposite is true. Perfection should never be expected, but hard work toward progress should be. I'm frustrated when missteps are taken, but missteps have to be expected.

Goodness knows, I'm not even close to perfect. :coffee:

You're right tal, everything is awful because things arent perfect. I guess we should all stop going to the games and supporting the team cause winning just isnt good enough anymore. Having a fun time with a boisterous crowd and watching Weber win is just plain pointless now because its not the way it was 30 years ago.

I really believe that this team can do some damage in the conference tournament if, and it is still a big if, we play as one team. The talent is there, but talent alone will not take us far at all.

Olds, I'm sorry for going off. You know I consider you a friend and I've always appreciated what you bring to this forum and also to Weber State; same with you Wildcat even though you really struggle with comprehending and replying to the main point of an argument. To me, it's almost criminal that our potential is being wasted. Weber has sooo much. Rahe is a good coach. Heavens knows I don't want him going anywhere and any issues with the state of the program; for me at least is minor when it comes to him.

Yes. I would love for it to return to the excitement of the 70s and early 80s. We used to get 3 to 5 thousand student per game. Back then the student body wasn't even 1/3 what it is now. To get back to where we were is going to take a concerted effort over several years. Student apathy is rampant on campus. It is not going to be easy to change that. However, if athletics, and the University in general, does not attempt to change that apathy, it will never change.

Once again, I don't have all the answers, but to me, if your plan is to work hard at something, then starting that 'something' is the most important thing. After starting a process, hard work and perseverance is what will get you to your goal.

My advice to the AD and the new president is to start the process of getting 5,000 students to each and every game. That is a realistic goal, but not an easy one. After you start toward that goal, don't stop working until you reach it. After that, set a new goal.

While you are doing that, I will continue to support you in all that you do. :coffee:
