Purple & White Game

I know it's only the Purple and White game, but since he'll be there, I hope the university does something to honor him that night. It won't happen but retiring his number would be the best way. Dame didn't get the usual senior night honor and he definitely deserves something.

Sweet. Our family will be there, Dame is the icing on the cake. 4 of us are also planning on going to the game the next night to root on Damian.

Is it the 24th yet?

New floor... New team... Fresh start... New and improved BSC... New coaching staff members... New student leaders, excited about athletics... Fastest growing studentbody in the state... Best looking freshmen class in the country...

Let's break last years attendance records!!!

Anybody know the schedule? Are the men or women playing first? If I come I'll be late, but if the men will have already played, I won't bother.

The Purple and White scrimmages will begin at 7:00 p.m. and admission to the game is free for all fans.

Following introductions of both teams the women’s team will hold its game. Following the women’s game will be a three-point shooting contest, followed by the men’s team scrimmage to end the evening.

Here we go!

Tonights the night. You will see players tonight that you may not see the rest of the year. I think that, at least, one and possibly up to three players will red shirt. This may be the only chance we'll get to see them play this year.

Come on out, and bring 50 of your closest friends. See, first hand, what we all have been talking about over the past several months. This team is going to be a lot of fun to watch develop.

WHO IS READY FOR WSU HOOPS

In a lot of respects, it was just like all intersquad games. Everyone knows what the other side is doing and how to attack it. That set up can make anyone look bad. Here is what made this one unique. The athleticism was outstanding. The intensity was over the top. Our regulars have really improved. Probably, due to how hard the newcomers are pushing them. When Davion Berry decides to assert himself, there is no stopping him. Our two freshmen forwards are the most athletic we have had at those positions for decades. They are going to have bright futures with us. It is totally up in the air, as to who might red shirt. We have 5 walk ons who can all play at a higher level than most walk ons. We have two seniors who are leading vocally and by example. I think that it's going to be a very good year for hoops at Weber.

The women's team is the most athletic we have ever had. They have 11 freshmen and they can all play. This might be the year when we start building some excitement in that program. They are picked at, or near, the bottom of our league. However, I don't see any way that will happen. They will surprise a lot of people. All of you fans out there may want to spend a few cold nights in the warm confines of the DEC, at a womens game. You might be impressed with what you discover.

:wtf: If you haven't noticed we don't talk Ladyball over here. If you want to talk Ladyball head over to egriz :rule:

I agree, OldRunner, Berry was impressive. Very quick first step and a quick release on his jumper. Bolomboy was impressive in terms of rebounding and defense. Looks like there are at least 5 guys to fill the 4 and 5 spots underneath - Tresnak, Hajek, Otis, Fulton, and Bolomboy. That's too many players for the minutes. I'm not counting Hill. I think he's got to be a red shirt.
Not sure who besides Wheelwright, Bamforth, Richardson, and Berry will be getting minutes at the 1, 2, and 3 spots. Williams and Bradford looked decent.
And (sorry Jon Con) I also agree that the women's team looked better. I can see them heading back to prominence in the Big Sky soon.

Two things really stood out to me. The team is a lot quicker and far more talented. This may be the most talented team I've ever seen at Weber. Raw, and they still have a long ways to go, but talented nonetheless. Coach has his work cut out for him. He has to be able to break down personalities and get the individuals to play as a team; to buy into his concept. One area I think the Cats will improve automatically will be on defense. Offensively, to me, it looked like the team will struggle a bit from outside, but will be far better inside than they have been since Patten. Regardless, it is going to be a fun year. Looking forward to watching the Cats.

Yes. We could be a little down in our outside shooting. However, last year we were one of the top three point shooting teams in the country. Our 3 point shooting will be just fine. We may have a few more turnovers, but I think we may get more take aways, as well. We will be less predictable and harder to defend. Teams will need to extend to 25 ft on Bamforth and Berry and if you go running out too hard on any of our outside guys, we can put it on the floor and beat them to the rim. It will be interesting to see what other teams try to do against us. Last year they would plan their D around Dame. This year, if they don't double down on our bigs, we will burn them inside. If they do, we have ready outside shooters.
