QB for UW?

With Miles getting suspended for their 1st game vs Hawaii I wonder who will play in their next game vs EWU? http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11259089/cyler-miles-suspended-washington-huskies-season-opener" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One would assume Miles, but with the new regime it could be totally up in the air. Especially if whomever starts for the Hawaii game plays well.

I'm hoping it's Miles as well -
He was a rival team against my son's team in high school, and would sure love to see him cry just a little bit. :)

Well, I'm assuming Miles won the starter competition so he'll be the QB. May be a good thing for us, however, as this will be his first game of the season....possibly a few jitters for the young man. I think our chances this year are great against the Huskies!

I'm going with our chances are "great" against Idaho St. and that our chances against UW are, well, less than that. Let's face it, we're solid underdogs but that's not scared any of our boys before. If we execute, play near flawless football, we can win. We've proven that. It won't be easy...

nwray1, not sure Miles has won the starter competition. Yes he was the #2 last year but saw very little pt. He was the anointed one to take over for Price under last years coaching staff. New coaching staff and Miles was suspended for Spring ball...not a snap. I Imagine he won't get a lot of work coming up as UW will be preparing for Hawaii and make no mistake about it, Petersen won't take them or us for granted.

True, my Eagle colored glasses picked that adjective! You know, it was such a great feeling to be with the EWU nation down in Corvallis last year...the prospect of watching the team try to do it again...oh be still my beating heart!

We beat the #25 team last year, so why not this year? I'd say we're more talented this year, and we still have Baldwin at the helm. The memory of the loss there 3 seasons ago is still fresh as is the desire to show the West Side we're still for real. There's nothing special about this UW team that makes them unbeatable If we can manage the turnovers, I think our improved depth will lead us to a win in Seattle. First things first, let's take care of these Bearkats (finally) and Keeler (again). The world will be watching.

:+1:

I heard some talk out of the UW camp that their staff is really unhappy with Miles' development and they suspect he won't start in 2014. It sort of mirrors the Bruggman situation in Pullman; they thought they recruited a superstar, but found out in camp that they had walk-ons that were better.

This would be a very big disappointment to our D-line who are looking forward to laying big hits on Mr. Miles.

I'd be happy if our DL laid any big hits on whichever QB they have back there. Phil Steele has both UW's OL and DL as top 15 nationally. We will need to rely on our rotation and getting creative to get pressure on them.

Concur. Their lines will be very good. Regardless of who is at QB (secretly, would love to see Carta-Samuels, kid can play), they have some weapons at WR as well. UW will be ready to play especially after watching our tape of the drubbing we give SHSU. too much? don't want to hurt anyones feelings :sarcasm: Seriously, let's get this first one done before worrying about UW brings to the field :) .
