Question about '09 schedule

Are we pretty sure we will play a I-A team next fall?

I think the Oregon State game is a done deal, I don't know if there's another one in the works or not for next season. My guess is OSU will be the only 1-A game next season. The following season the Viks are scheduled to play Arizona State. There has been rumors about playing Indiana and Kentucky, but I've never seen anything official on those schools so far.

Indiana and Kentucky? That would be interesting. I wonder if there are any other Pac-10 school games in the works. Arizona has played Northern Arizona. We have played Cal before. Stanford has played Cal-Davis. I wonder if Washington will consider playing a FCS school with a new coach coming on board?

I don't think Washington has ever 'played down.'

<snip>As of 2007, Washington is one of only five of the 119 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) teams to have never played a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) team since Division I was split in 1978.[1]<snip>

Maybe they should try. They may actually get a win. ;-)

While driving in my car today, I swear I heard on the FM sports station that Oregon had made an adjustment to their 2010 football schedule and now have added Portland State to it. Did anyone else hear this ? I'm not sure how I feel about it one way or other, but Arizona St and Oregon in the same year sounds like too much.

I haven't heard this yet, but if true, I'd have mixed feelings about it. As I've said before, I'm only supportive of playing more than one FBS game per year if the proceeds goes toward a specific objective, like improvements to PGE or a move up to FBS.

I heard right.

ON CAMPUS: PSU-UO football game set for 2010

FOOTBALL

PSU will play Ducks

Oregon has made a change in its nonconference schedule for 2010. The Ducks have decided to drop Central Michigan and go with a more regional approach. Instead, Oregon will play host to Portland State on Sept. 18. It will be the Ducks’ third game, a week after a visit to Tennessee. The 2010 opener has Oregon at home against New Mexico.

• Linebacker Andy Schantz of PSU will play in the third annual Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Challenge game on Jan. 31 in El Paso, Texas.

I have a question for all of you...who is going to take Andy Schantz place next season?

Prior to the spring game, I'd say Ryan Rau and Rory Richards based on this past year. However, all eyes should be on Colton Russi going into spring camp.

Get ready to hear all the whining from the Duck fans about playing PSU. If they aren't playing Ohio State or Texas for every non-conference game then they bitch like crazy.

UO willingly dropped the Central Michigan game, so I don't think they have too much room to bitch.
