Question about the old Portland State helmets

Didn't PSU have a white shelled verison of what the Minntesota Viking have back when Neil Lomax was QBing the PSU Vikings roughly 25 years ago?

I thought I saw a picture of Lomax in a college football preview magazine ages ago wearing a white helmet with the horn logo that was similar to the NFL's Minnresiota Vikimngs helmet logo.

Yes, the helmet was remarkably similar, as you described. There's one hanging from the ceiling at the Cheerful Tortoise if you're ever on campus at PSU.

I think there is one up at the Kinston across from PGE Park as well. Green, white, and a blue stripe. Oh yeah, and the Viking's head.

There was a white shelled version helmut with a Minnesota Viking head on it but it wasn't ever worn by Neil Lomax. Those helmuts were worn during the Pokey Allen years. Neil Lomax wore a white shelled version with his jersey number on it a la Alabama. Very old school.
