Question About WAC

The WAC will lose it's FBS football conference status, when Fresno and Nevada leave, whether in 2011 or 2012.

Let's just say those two schools leave in 2012. So the WAC has two years to get the required number of schools? So by 2014, the WAC needs to get at least 8 teams?

WAC has plenty of time to get 1 or 2 new members. And yes, PSU could be invited, if it hasn't been already. But we're unlikely to join; just costs too much money. The only advantage i'd see is a marginally greater attention paid to us by the Oregonian.

You'll see continued realignment of schools and conferences. I wonder if Louisiana Tech makes sense for the WAC too. I wonder if TCU makes sense in the MWC. Maybe those schools will be switching affiliations by then.

I agree that PSU won't be moving up. We can't afford it.

What will happen is that Houston will join the MWC and La. Tech runs like hell for C-USA. Hawaii will drop out of the WAC to go Indy in football and Big West in all other sports.

Guys, for all intents and purposes...it's only a matter of time before the WAC goes belly up.

Why do people think Houston is going to the MWC?

When the Big 8 took the four teams from the old Southwest Conference, Rice, TCU and SMU all went to the WAC. Where did Houston go? CUSA.

When the WAC broke up for formed the MWC, a few years later TCU was invited. Did Houston go with them?

Notice a trend?

Does anybody think the Big 12 will stay at 10 teams? What if the Big 12 invites, TCU and BYU? Or Houston and TCU?

It's pretty much a done deal. The move will be made next spring/summer. It helps both Houston and the MWC.

When the WAC invited SMU, TCU, Rice to join in 1996, they also invited Houston but Houston said "thanks but no thanks." UH didn't like the idea of being a part of a 16-team league at the time. So, the WAC invited Tulsa instead.

When the WAC broke up for formed the MWC, a few years later TCU was invited. Did Houston go with them?

Houston wasn't good at the time thus why they didn't go along with TCU to the MWC then. Besides the MWC was only interested in adding only one school at the time.

A lot of people including the sportswriters down here in Oklahoma don't think the Big 12 (10) will survive for more than 3-5 years from now. When it dies, Texas, OU, OSU, and Tech will all run for the PAC-12. It happen eventually.
