Slo,

What are you thinking for next season's Mustangs?

I see you lost year coach and your awesome receiver and QB are gone.

Will your boys still be a national powerhouse? What can WSU and UM expect?

It is hard to say with a new coach. I think that Walsh was a good coach at PSU, but he had limitted support there. I think he will have more support at Cal Poly and I think he will do well. I have been impressed so far with the staff and recruiting class he put together.

As far as the team we lose most of the starting skilled players on offense, but there is a lot of young talent on the roster. We return 8 starters on defense. We had a rough game last year against WSU, but they were a lot of freshmen and sophomore starting that should be better next year.

I am looking forward to spring ball. I should know more then and I will let you know how it is going.

I guess we are the opposite of you...we lost 8 starters on D but bring back basically the same offense.

Cal Poly starts spring ball on April 1rst with their spring game on Saturday April 25th. How about WSU?

We start Friday March 20th.
Thanks for the update.

Cal Poly's biggest and most watch competition this spring will be the battle for the QB position. Jr. Tony Smith (WR transfer from Utah who play QB in HS) will battle two Rfr QB's, Andre Broadus and Doug Shumway. My bet is on Broadus. He threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for over 1,000 yards in both his Jr and Sr years in high school. He was also an All-State DB and All-State baseball player and the starting point gaurd on a team that made a deep run in the playoffs. Cal Poly got him because he is only 5'11" and most schools want him as a RB or DB. I think Shumway will be his biggest competition. Shumway threw for over 2,000 yards and rushed for over 600 his Sr year in high school. From what I have heard, Broadus has the advantage running the triple option, but Shumway is a better passer. Should be fun to watch.

What are the biggest battles going to be this spring for WSU? I know it wont be QB, RB or WR. Weber State has three of the best in the FCS.

Our biggest battle so far was the possibility of post season sactions but it was reported today WSU has been given a conditional waiver request from the NCAA board due to improved APR scores (976 record high for the team)

Other than that our biggest losses were on the defensive side of the ball.
