Questions about attending the game Saturday

Hi everyone, Saturday will be the first time I've been to Cheney. I am the planner and hoping you can clear up some questions I had. Eight of us will be going, 3 Maine alums (including myself), 1 EWU alum and the other 4 along for the ride.

How is the parking situation? Will the first come first serve lots fill up early? It looks like I can pre buy parking for P12-E, is that a better option? Are you allowed to drink beer in only the tailgate lots (like P12) or is it allowed in the regular lots as well? (Our tailgating would pretty much consist of drinking beer out of the trunk).

Is the beer garden in the stadium open to anyone? High prices?

We are staying in Spokane and was planning on heading back that way after the game, but should we stick around and visit some of the local restaurants/bars instead? Are they usually crazy busy?

One more question I am curious about that you might not know any info... I bought tickets in section P the minute they went on sale (I saw that the UC Davis band was on that side for the last game, so I figured that was the best option for whatever "visiting" side might exist). I checked the seating chart a bit after and saw that the entire P and Q section was grayed out/sold out. Do you think that is because they are holding tickets in case the UMaine band is coming, or is there some other group that sits there sometimes?

Thank you!

It will depend on how many folks are in attendance.

School's out of session and Cheney's largely a ghost town over the break so attendance in the early rounds of the playoffs tends to be pretty low compared to regular season attendance, but it usually picks up in the semifinals. I didn't know there was a distinction between the tailgate lots and anywhere else, but I usually drink wherever.

I believe you have to pay to get into the beer garden. Prices aren't bad.

I'll let someone else answer that...see previous comment about school being out of session, but there's still some local bars to visit.

I know they usually hold a certain number of tickets for visiting teams. That's probably what this is. Visiting fans usually sit in this area.

Thank you!

First off, I’m jealous of those getting to go to the game. Not able to make this one and was desperate for a Friday slot so I could fly over. Perhaps me not in attendance will change our semifinal luck.

There probably won’t be a lot going on in Cheney after the game. Outside of the people who live in Cheney staying, most everyone else will be staying in Spokane. With school out, that would be the place to hang out Friday and Saturday night. It’s only 20 minutes from the stadium to downtown Spokane.

Going along with what others have said, during the regular season getting into P12 is damn near impossible, for this game it should be pretty easy. Generally you can drink in lots P12 and P9 (but that's usually boosters only). Make sure you bring plastic cups and you will not be hassled, glass and drinking straight from beer cans and a state officer may speak with you. Eagles Pub and Wild Bills are college bars that are nice water holes, but the food is not great. I'd recommend eating in Spokane, but having a few drinks in Cheney.

Parking will be fine, you can park in upper lot near the back north side, or in the lower lot behind the north end zone, single car for $10. You can tailgate there or walk around other tailgates, there will be plenty of spots as neither lot filled up last week so they opened the upper lot to general public.

Tickets will be semi easy to come by crowd on the visiting side will be very sparse so you'll be able to sit whereever. The grayed out area on the ticket site is for businesses and others for possible group purchases, but it rarely fills up. You'll have plenty of space on the visiting side...

Get up there a couple hours early, have a couple drinks and enjoy!

Welcome and I hope you have a great visit. Let me add on a little here,

Prepaid parking in the P12 East will not be necessary. Most of the tailgating will take place in the P12 North and South lots between the P12E parking and the stadium, so if you wanted to wander around and hang out with some Eags before the game that wouldn't be a bad move. P12 East parking will be a long way from your seats. Since you are sitting on the east side, there is also game day parking in P16 North that is $10 and it has not been full all year. There is some good tailgating in the lower lots too. You can also park for free all along Washington Ave, but those fill up fast close to the stadium. Another option is to park downtown and take a shuttle to the game.

In terms of drinking in the lots, put it in a cup and you are all good. Having a couple beers outside the truck will not be an issue. if you park in a lot.

There is a beer garden that is open before the game and at half during the regular season. I am not sure if they run that or not during playoffs. There is also a donor beer section that is run during the regular season but I know they don't sell beer and wine in there during the playoffs. If it's open I think beer and wine are $5 bucks in the garden.

There a couple of spots in Cheney that are fun. I like Wild Bills for drinks, and the Barrel House (Pizza) and El Rodeo (Mexican), however, if you just head back to Spokane there are a ton of options.

Section Q is currently the only gray section and that is most certainly being held for Maine allotment.
