Questions for the Commish?

With Idaho on the way, the Big Sky is going to have 14 teams in football. Idaho State coach Mike Kramer has vocalized his displeasure and said (these are my words) the league is cumbersome, unwieldy and swollen.

So ... for football ...

1) Is the league going to split into two conferences? If the conference divides into two leagues, what factors will play into deciding the teams in each division?

2) Is it possible the Big Sky is going to start playing nine conference games? What are the positives and negatives of doing that?

A big picture question ...

3) What makes the Big Sky a strong conference? And where is the Big Sky Conference vulnerable?

4) Take a look at the Root Sports TV schedule, and it's pretty clear the Big Sky's television partner values Montana and Montana State. Can the league office do anything to help spread the love to the likes of Idaho State, Northern Colorado, UC Davis and the other have-nots?

5) Back to football for a moment -- Andrea, sorry for bouncing around -- last year Southern Utah won the Big Sky Conference but was forced to go on the road for its playoff game. Meanwhile, Montana, which finished tied for second in the league, hosted a playoff game. ... In other words, Andrea, it's possible for a team to buy home playoff games (which ain't anything new). How do you feel about that, Andrea? Is there anything that can be done to ensure a program like Southern Utah isn't rewarded for winning the Big Sky with a playoff game on the road?

Wheeeeeeew ... I'll stop there, votb. You guys will ask great questions. Looking forward to the interview. :thumb:

We will have a live interview during tomorrow's pregame show at around 1:45 pm with new Big Sky Commissioner Andrea Williams. Here's your chance...what questions would you like us to ask?

Mike Kramer was recently quoted in an interview with a Boise radio station as saying that the University of Idaho coaches are telling recruits U of I is NOT going to the Big Sky. Are you getting any indication the Vandals may back out?

Also, what is the likelihood North Dakota leaves the Big Sky? Would the league be open to North Dakota as a football-only member?

I don't know if the new commissioner is coming to Pocatello Saturday or not now. Got an e-mail that said she cancelled a meeting with ISU today that was scheduled because of flooding Thursday in her home in Odgen. (Have been in that spot...it's no fun!)

As far as some of the other questions posed, I suspect the Big Sky will go to a nine game conference schedule in the next few years. I do not think they will split into divisions unfortunately and I think the Big Sky would be very open to No. Dakota leaving in all sports but football. (North Dakota newspaper recently had a story that said N.D. State would block any attempt by No. Dakota to join their conference in football. I don't know why they'd feel threatened by them but that's what the story said...) UND could join the Summit I guess for the other sports.

Just my two cents.

....i'll bet she got on this board and was reading the "tough questions" she was going to be asked....  .

I'm curious Claws what questions you would suggest be asked? The ones posted seemed reasonable and topical to me.
