QUIT DOGGING ON TINGEY!!!

Simple as that. Look beyond the damn records of his hires. They are extremely competitive and Teichert and Sobolewski have represented Idaho State VERY well on the national stage (even winning entire in-season tournaments and invitiationals!).

Tingey has also done a lot to get ISU back on its feet. We have actually made some damn improvements in facilities (the locker room renovations, the softball field at Bartz Field, the weight room) and sponsorships, and don't forget that it was Tingey who finally got women's basketball their 2007 rings and banner, whereas Paul Bubb pretty much gave everyone he didn't like or favor the middle finger.

No, he's not perfect. Yes, he can be a little stiff and a little too businesslike at times. Yes, I myself have had some rather tense and agitated moments (overall we're pretty cool). But believe me, Tingey really does care about ISU (trust me, I've seen him at games. He gets plenty animated at games. It's great). Don't blame Jeff Tingey for the 20+ years of blatant disregard under Bowen, don't blame Tingey for the general culture of apathy in Southeast Idaho, and don't blame him for Zamberlin (Bubb's hire). I am not angry with the extension he gave Z last year; at the time it was not financially feasible to let him go and start a new search. Now we're only spending 1/5th of the money from Georgia to buyout his contract instead of an entire FBS prostitution game. Also, it's only fair to give a coach more than 3 years. If he's still sucking ass by Year 4, then you can consider canning him. Yes, college sports are THAT intricate and sensitive. What sucks in Year 3 might be a powerhouse in the making by Year 4.

Those of you who have an axe to grind against Tingey are highlighting one of the biggest problems at ISU: that people have more of a personal problem with somebody rather than an actual complaint. He's the athletic director for Christ's sake. He's there to build and maintain athletics, not there to be your friend (although he's always fun to sit down with and talk sports). It's obvious to me that his detractors are more willing to spend all the energy in the world in focusing on petty bullshit than contributing to the empire we're trying to build. Was he qualified when he was hired? Oh hell no he wasn't. Has he turned out pretty good and stable so far? Oh hell yes he has. And in the end, that's all that matters.
