I went to the Coaches Luncheon yesterday and got a chance to listen to the Wizard of Weber talk about the team.

He said that he doesn't know who will end up being our team leaders, but he expects the veterans to show the new guys the ropes. He said that there aren't any starters right now and that the guys who want to come to play everyday will end up being the starters. That says something to me about this team. They are deep, talented, and will end up being very good.

He said that the guys are all coming back to practice in excellent shape ready to play and healthy. He would like to keep it that way. He had a lot to say about the new guys. He said that Bolomboy is a freak of an athlete. That they guy likes to do three things, rebound, dunk, and block shots. He will play this year and really help our team out. Royce Williams doesn't do anything special, but come to work everyday ready to go and compete. He likes his toughness and mindset. Wayne Bradford according to coach is a cocky sucker who thinks he is a lot better than what he actually is, but coach likes it. He said he will be coming off the bench. Deuce is a junk yard dog and won't back down to anyone. Coach said there is a chance that the Cats will redshirt him and give him some more time. Kyndahl Hill, is really solid and will end up being an excellent player for the Cats. They are going to start him at the 4 and move him to the 3 overtime like Bull.

Berry could be the best player in the Big Sky and Scotty, if he keeps his head into the team, has a chance at being the second best player in the Sky. Yeah, I think we have a solid team.

From what Randy is saying, I am guessing that he is planning to play Mook primarily at the 3, backing up Berry. That frees up more time at the 4 spot for Bolomboy and Hill. Bolomboy will likely play a little 5 as well. I hope they have enough minutes to keep Hill happy. :coffee:

Bolomboy at the 5 and Hill at the 4 would bring a crazy amount of athleticism to the court. Now THAT would be fun to see.

I am excited to watch Berry... sounds like he is just going to be a stud.

I expect Kyle and James to get the lion's share of minutes at 5. Joel will get minutes there when athleticism fits the matchups better. I don't know who will start at 4, but I expect Byron and Joel to get a lot of minutes. If Kyndahl doesn't redshirt, he may get some minutes there. I just don't know how many. If Randy goes with his usual 5 guard rotation, I expect that it would be Ge'Laun, Jordan, Scott, Davien, and Frank. If he goes with a 6 guard rotation, the 6th would be one of the JC kids; flip a coin. Logan may get some clean up minutes, but the other walk-ons will likely not play much, if at all. Who, and how many, might redshirt is anyone's guess. To my thinking, you only redshirt a player if you see them as a future starter. Otherwise, you are just waisting everyone's time. :coffee:

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Frank Otis is the starting 4. He is NOT a wing, he has the build, game, and temperament of a power forward. :twocents:

AJ;

I think you are dead wrong about that, my freind. Mook's knees couldn't take the pounding starting at the 4. He is much more efective facing the basket and either passing or penetrating to the rim. He is not a good outside shooter, but can post up on the smaller 3s in our league. He has lost weight and improved his quickness over last year. If they did as you say and started him at the 4 spot, then Bolomboy would be redshirting. There just wouldn't be enough minutes to go around. I don't see that happening. I think that he makes a nice change of pace, coming off the bench for Berry. :twocents:

Its really going to be interesting how the rotations go. I was just thinking back to Craves years, Man its like day and night different. We are so much deeper now. Back then, we had a pretty decent starting 5 and hardly a bench. Now I can think of several different starting lineups with 9-10 of our players being good enough to start. Coach Rahe is a great coach. Here is what our depth chart looks like to me. I could be way off, but its a pretty good guess. :rockon:

1. Wheelright 2. Bamforth 3. Berry 4. Fulton 5. Tresnak
Richardson Bradford Otis Bolomboy Hajak
Zaid Williams Hill.

Im going to guess that Zaid and Hill redshirt. I think its good to have 2 scholarship players redshirt every year if you can. Of course injuries and other things can prevent that like last year with Wheelright having to play. I love that lots of our players can play several postions. I bet with all the depth that we have that practices are very intense and competitive for the guys fighting for playing time. Its a great problem to have. Go Cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Catcat is a Stain. :lol:

How in the hell does it make sense that his knees are too bad to play the 4 yet they are somehow better for the quickness of the 3 spot? :dunce:

Same reason that linemen have more knee issues than wide recievers in football. It's the heavier load going up against the heavier loads that takes a heavier load on knees. It's the bumping and grinding that goes on inside the key. The other thing is the minutes. I don't see him starting and then losing him for league play when his knees go out. He was close to being completely done last year. I think that they want to get the most out of him, without burning his knees out.

AJ;

I have learned that they are seeing Mook primarily as a 4. Starting, not starting, and minutes are all up in the air at the 4 spot. We have 3 players at that one spot and they all have unique skill sets. The only one, of the three, that has a RS year left is Bolomboy. He may be too good to red shirt. We have four players at that position if you put Hill in the mix. Hill is a future 3, but for now his shooting touch needs to improve to play there. What all of this means is that one more of the JC kids will be in the rotation at guard. We know that Royce does not have a RS year left and he will play some. Beyond that, all bets are off. Who may or may not red shirt, will work itself out over the two weeks. The last chance to see a couple of these guys may be the Purple/White game. :twocents:
