raising money

There has been a lot of talk of late about fund raising. Last year Coach Best started the "football fund" or something like that exclusively for his program. It would be kind of fun and a way to raise money for football if there was a system by which fans would commit $$$ to each sack, and or $$$ for each touchdown. I know I could give whatever I want but if a fan could challenge other fans to make commitments it would be a rolling fund raiser, kind of like Memorial Day telethon for some charity only for the entire season.

I like it. I just want people thinking creatively. I had proposed that they eventually sell chunks of the original red turf when they decide to replace the field and use that money to help cover the cost of the new field.

Way to think outside of the box Clawman. We need more creative ideas. Every penny helps.

go Eags!

There’s also a fund created by former players that’s designed specifically for the program. Good idea.

On a similar topic, Hickey’s request to ask business where their Eagle gear is, must be working. Last weekend, I was at a children’s toy store in the Riverpark Square mall in downtown Spokane, and saw a Cougar and Zag kids travel toy. I asked the clerk where the Eagle one was and she laughed and said I was the 3rd person that day to ask her that.

There is some momentum now. The University is reaching out and responding. This week I upped my contribution to the athletic department and EAF. Our concerted support is the indicator University administration needs to keep the ball rolling faster and farther. If we also promote Eastern wherever and whenever, we can do even more good. Time for another trip to the bookstore.
